This bar had a live band that was pretty good, but I have no idea what was wrong with their Guinness, several people remarked that it tasted like pennies. Maybe it was a bad batch but definitely not my favorite pub.

I have to plug their chicken wings. The Grapes serves up the standard size wing(quite small) for the UK, but they put some magic in the preparation. They’re fried nice and crisp giving them a fantastic outer skin when served. Add a side of their Chipotle sauce and they make for a fantastic meal. The sauce delivers some excellent flavor compared to any wing this man has sampled. So happy to have tried this menu item. I know I’ll be returning for more.

My wife and I dropped by for a quick drink after a meal in town. We hadn’t planned on coming here as we don’t know the town to well. We got here pretty early and the place wasn’t too busy yet. I’ve heard it can get pretty packed later in the evening. There was a band setting up just as we were leaving. The music here is loud but pretty good. I would come back again with a few more people.

The Grapes in the wonderful town of Bury St. Edmunds is by far the coolest pub! This is like the Cheers of Bury!!! Great place to mingle and people watch and have a pint. I met so many cool people at this pub from locals to legends. Get there early and it’s a great place to talk, have some drinks and listen to the juke box. But at night it gets really packed so make sure to prepare for the tight squeeze of pushing through the crowd, but it’s definitely worth the experience!
