If Sol and Viva has the intention to be cool and trendy then it is Siberia’s intention to be more alternative. Siberia is distinctly smaller than Sol, but somehow it’s not as oppressive, nor is there the smell of cheese ball feet creeping up your nose the moment you enter the club from the stairs. The environment is more relaxed in Siberia than in Sol and Viva, and that’s again probably due to the whole alternative vibe that’s happening there. Jeans and trainers have always seemed fair game in here, and I’ve actually seen no objection to jeans and t shirts. Red walls, fairly cheap drinks that on request can taste like jelly babies, loud music, it’s alright it is. It has the same youthful clientele that Sol and Viva does, students from both the local colleges, and generally there’s a few questionably young faces floating around. But in general it’s a trouble free night out that won’t break the bank.

Siberia is a mid sized club with nothing really to recommend it apart from its cheap drinks and entry, fairly good atmosphere and dedication to putting on nights with different music i.e. indie and rock on Wednesdays, R’n’B and pop on Thursdays. That said, if you are going to go clubbing in Bury, Siberia is definitely your best bet and unless you are a club-snob, you will probably have a good night. The dance floor is a medium size and there is normally plenty of seating too. Its usually a pretty young crowd– students and people who work in the big retail stores i.e. who have all just been to The Peel. Just don’t go expecting anything spectacular.
