The Brown Cow

The Brown Cow is round the corner from me next to Burrs Country Park. It’s in a beautiful location and great for a pint if you’ve just been for a walk through the park.
It’s a rural pub, quite small and dark inside with a beer garden outside so you can sit out in the sun. However, the clientele are… interesting…let’s put it that way, and the staff don’t come across as overly friendly. They do your standard pub food food and the prices are reasonable– I haven’t eaten here myself although I have had a portion of chips. It’s just a bit shabby looking really and nothing to write home about.
A pint of beer and a half pint of Guinness came to £3.50 which is a bargain compared to some of the other pubs in my area. You certainly wouldn’t get that in the city. I usually just come here after a walk if I’m feeling like a pint on the way home.

I didn’t like this pub much, after a quick post work walk to the weir. We walked in for two quick halves before heading home. Staff bickering behind the bar about the gas in the cellar it took four minutes to get served (the bar is only 7 foot long)
Only reason it gets two stars is that the beer on draught was actually a decent beer (nutty black — thwaites)
£3.10 for two halves
But very stand off ish atmosphere I can’t really write a true full length review as we left fairly quickly due to the atmosphere and a broken quiz machine !

Disgraceful #racist!!!
Me and my other half who is Japanese, went in for a quiet drink after a walk. We went to the bar and waited for the few people in front of us to be served, our turn came and we was refused sale because my boyfriend is of another race!
We asked the barmaid why we hadn’t been served. She looked my bf up and down gave a disgusted smirk and shrugged, then turned to serve someone new who came to the bar! Needless to say out feelings were hurt. We couldn’t believe a so called «public bar» could be like this.
