A bit of an odd one, I would say it fluctuates from 3 to 4 stars depending on what you expect… if I had the choice it would be a solid 3.5. First off, the place is a very decent value… at least when I’ve stayed. You can essentially get a small apartment for less than some standard hotel rooms. The rooms are a decent size, but a bit worn looking… nothing shocking, just a bit dated. There’s a complimentary fitness room and clothes room, so while there isn’t a means to wash clothes in your own room there’s plenty of room in the downstairs laundry. The lobby meet and great evenings really get a plus in my book as well… free snacks, beer, and wine, for a few weekday nights… nothing to complain about there! It’s a nice touch and feels a bit more personal than similar places in some ways. There is no room service here, but there is a 24 hour pantry that has most anything you could really need… aside from detergent, toothpaste, and general bits and bobs you may need it’s all microwave or quick cook stuff however… you’re not going to make a «nice» meal, but you should find something to get you by. One of the biggest downsides here, and likely a reason for the value, is the location… if you’re a city centre type at least — it’s not that far off from the quayside, but if you’re like me and prefer to head elsewhere it’s worth keeping in mind… and the immediate area around the hotel it is surprisingly dead and dreary. So given the choice I’ve tended to stay closer to the centre, but that said I would have no hesitation coming back here if I needed some extra room for visiting friends on a weekend… it may not be the ideal location for atmosphere, but that’s offset by not being piled upon each other as you would be trying to share a standard room… the pull out couch and kitchen add up to a great way to save if needed.
