7 of us went for a meal here on Valentine’s weekend(keep the jokes to yourself please!) having been through quite a lengthy process trying to pick somewhere out. They had both a set menu and a standard menu to choose from. The set menu didn’t particularly take my fancy so I avoided it, that was purely a personal choice though there was nothing wrong with it. For starters I shared a baked Camembert, which was served with toast, salad and an onion chutney. It was pretty good although more toast would have been appreciated. For the main course I had the fillet steak and came across one of the nicest steaks I’ve ever had. It took me by surprise to be honest i wasn’t expecting it! The chips it came with were nothing special though. The only comment I would have is that I asked for it medium and it came way less than medium, wasn’t complaining though I was very glad they did so! The whole meal came to £30−40 each including drinks which wasn’t too bad at all considering we all had steak or fish. Overall I had a great time, the staff were friendly and efficient and if I could give it 4.5 I would. It falls shy of a 5 unfortunately though.

This was the venue of choice for our extended Valentine’s date. I ordered from the Valentine’s set menu and opted for the seabass ceviche for a starter, and duck for a main. The seabass ceviche was really excellent. The fish tasted super fresh and was mixed with crunchy lettuce and creamy avocado which made a great contrast of textures. Even though others on the table had charcuterie and Camembert I didn’t have food envy –though that’s not to say I didn’t snaffle bits of other people’s. All delicious. The duck was beautifully cooked and very flavoursome. It came with some very tasty veg and spinach, and a veritable tower of potato. I didn’t enjoy the potato tower as much as I could as it wasn’t very creamy and had potato skins in it — not really my scene. Along with my meal I had a delicious bottle of red. I can’t remember what it was but our waitress took the time to help us out with the wine list. The price was fairly reasonable and I was happy with the service — overall this is a great place and I’d recommend to Cambridge dwellers and visitors. One thing to note: the toilets are outside and then inside another building. Do not be alarmed if a staff member directs you to the toilet and all of a sudden you’re in the street!

We had a terrific dinner here this evening. Very good selection, great quality and taste. Super location and a first class, friendly staff. We loved d’Arry’s and recommend you go there, too.

Look, I’m a bit biased. I had a friend visiting from the US and wanted to take him out, so made a reservation at Restaurant 22. We got there only to find out that their ovens weren’t working, and they were closed for the night. All dressed up and nowhere to go… and hungry! Thankfully, d’Arrys came to the rescue at the recommendation of a flatmate. This was a weekday night, and they were about half empty, so we were seated right away. I really liked their wine descriptions/stories from the vineyard — we got a bottle of the Feral Fox, which was good, although perhaps you should NOT read the aforementioned description!(hint: foxes fertilize plants… don’t think too hard about it) I have to admit I’m a sucker for interesting names of wines, which pretty much describes everything they have. I got the wild mushroom risotto, and definitely enjoyed it. The servers were attentive, and overall we had a great time. The location on King Street is also great(although there aren’t many bad locations in this part of Cambridge), and the inside felt cozy but not crowded. The one negative is so small that I feel silly bringing it up — the dinner was on me, and I tried to be cool by putting my card down without looking at the total. The server said something along the lines of «don’t you want to look at the bill» which ruined my cool-girl vibe(I did look then and all was well. It was somewhere between £50−60 for wine, two entrees, and an appetizer). Anyway, it’s been 10 months and I still remember it so I guess that stuck with me! Lesson learned, don’t try to be too cool. Overall, thank you so much to d’Arry’s for saving me!

This place does well when things are very busy. My wife and I went here twice while on a bike holiday to the UK, and our visit coincided(unintentionally) with a Cambridge University event(we never did know what) that attracted a large number of parents and relatives of students who all wanted to eat near the college at the same time. Both times the restaurant was full but we still got prompt service and excellent food. They offer a wide variety of food and drinks, well prepared and tasty.

My girlfriend and I have eaten in this restaurant a number of times; it’s one of our favourite places to go in Cambridge. We especially love to sit in the small courtyard outside, weather permitting. The food is usually outstanding, with everything from steaks to prawns to burgers all worth trying. My only qualm is that on rare occasions the food has been sub-standard. I’m not sure if they have a different cook occasionally, or what the source of this problem is, but it is noticable when it does happen. So the five-star rating is taking the food into consideration on a normal day without this problem. They also have a great selection of different Gins and Tonic waters– be sure to sample something new here!

We turned up on Sunday evening and got a table right in front of the live(blues) music. Great food, good price fix deals(during certain times) and efficient staff. The décor was lovely too, suitable for a date or a group with low level lighting creating an intimate feel.

When it landed in the former King Street Run, d’Arry’s brought a touch of London-style relaxed sophistication to Cambridge’s local pub scene that had previously been missing — thankfully, without the London prices. Since then, a number of places have undergone similar transformations — not least the erstwhile Town and Gown, now reinvented as the gastropubby Punter. But the original remains the best — bare-brick walls, candles in up-turned cut-off wine bottles, rustic tables and just a touch of quirkiness in the décor make the interior an interesting place to sit and sample their modern take on pub food, such as brie and bacon sandwiches with caramelised red onion chutney or beef and Guiness pie. Normally, I am not a big fan of blowsy, in-yer-face Aussie wines, but d’Arry’s wines(almost exclusively from d’Arenberg — hence the name) are more sophisticated than certain supermarket-friendly New World brands I could mention and match the pubby style of the food here perfectly. Final mention must go to the waiting staff who are always excellent — even when we turn up with small children in tow(which is quite often, actually).

d’Arry’s(d’s) is a Wine Shop, a Bar and a Restaurant. We had lunch in the restaurant and there are a number of positive things to say. To start it’s in a great location — I do not know Cambridge that well but this seemed close to town yet not too close to be crowded. That said the layout has been filled to capacity although this did not make it feel cramped. The food was lovely and varied with great flavour and choice. I had Parsnip and Cider soup to start which was quite strong(a little heavy on the cider), followed by Haddock Fillet, French Peas and Chips — or as my friend said, Jenga chips. All well presented and very tasty. My other half had Pea, Mint and Potato soup which he enjoyed followed by a tasty fish pie. I cannot rate the desserts as we were so full following two courses. The choice of wine was lovely and although recommended on the menu when with our meals. The service was very quick and we were served by an absolute adonis. I am not sure if there is a policy for hunky waiters in d’s but they can keep doing it! The extra, very buff and very friendly waiters(in their tight black t shirts) were an added bonus. Overall a lovely place, great food, nice wine, nice atmosphere and hot waiters — how can it fail?

I had been wnting to go to D’arrys for sometime and it was worth the wait. the food was great, the choice of specials fantastic and very good service, really refreshing to be somewhere unique and not part of a high street chain, i do however wish you could book a table as afetr 7.30 on a friday or saturday you have to queue for a table although there’s a nice bar to wait and good wines to sample.

Lovely atmosphere, nice, warm interior. I don’t do romantic stuff too often, but I guess, that would be one of the places for a nice meal out with beloved one. It also helps great variety of wines, which can be tried while chatting away and waiting for meal to be served(again it applies to those who drink wine). I can say — their mineral water is lovely as well. Quite a few vegetarian options really impressed me — I had spicy Thai fishcakes with coriander, fresh salad. was very nice and under 10 pounds. Also I was offered some mushroom meal with cheese. Unfortunatelly can’t remember exactly what it was as I didnt try it, therefore I can trully say they serve more than one vegetarian dish and the compositions themselves are not weird.

I took my partner here for a pre-Christmas Sunday lunch treat and it didn’t disappoint. The food was excellent and reasonably priced, the staff neither hurried nor ignored us and the wine list is, as you might expect, impressive. The interior is warm and classy without being ostentatious or snobby. D’Arrys is the perfect place for a date or a family dinner.

Great place to eat and one of the best wine lists in Cambridge. All wines are sold by the glass, bottle or case. The chef(Rook) delivers excellent food and at a great price. Great atmosphere, the only slight problem is that you can only book if there are at least 6 of you although that said each time we’ve just turned up we’ve managed to get a table. D’Arrys also organises wine tasting evenings. Well worth looking out for these as they are great value. Ideal for a special occasion or just a regular evening out.
