Gametron, Burleigh Street, Cambridge, is a small, yet high-standard company, selling a variety of consoles and games, from the most recent consoles, being Xbox 360, Playstation 3, right back to the early ninety’s consoles, such as the SNES, the NES, and leading up to the early Playstation model, in additional to PC games for various formats and specifications. Above all else, the prices for games of any console, all share the same feature, they are very competitively priced, as they accept and re-sell pre-owned games(which are often in good condition). Overall, this store is very worthwhile having a browse in.

Gametron is also good for retro games, especially Gameboy cartridges. They have some good bargain bins with old carts and controllers for 50p. They seem to do a good trade in second-hand consoles and some of the rarer, collectible stuff and sell lots of Japanese imports. If the shop isn’t too busy, they’ll happily plug in a game for you to try, or just let you have a go on whatever they’ve been playing when they didn’t have customers. The owner has been trading games in Cambridge for as long as I can remember, must be 15 or 20 years now. Customer service is very good, if you do buy a second-hand game which doesn’t work properly, they refund or replace with no fuss at all.

This is one of the few indie game shops in Cambridge, which makes it quite unique compared to GAME, Gamestation and HMV. The shop can be quiet alot of the time, and some of the stock remains in the shop for months. The staff are friendly and personal and experts in the field of video games in general.
