Don’t know what the lunch is like as I’ve only experienced the dinner. Service was good, but the food was extremely disappointing. We were three people, ordered the cote de boeuf and a ribeye steak. The cote de boeuf was completely overcooked(we ordered it blue), and when we complained we were told that this is ‘english blue’. My friend’s ribeye steak was massive, but the meat was poor quality. Pretty certain the meat wasn’t ribeye, and it looked like it could have been defrosted on the spot. The sides(chips and veg) were decent, but the meat was thoroughly disappointing. Came to around 30 pounds a head(we had two drinks each) which is way too much to pay for such a disappointing meal. Would not recommend for dinner.

I’m not a big fan of this place. The food is in pans and waiting for you to take it. Might be ok for lunch but at 4pm it looks awful. Staff is adequate but far from friendly.

Standard pre-cooked food that is then re-heated when you order it. My family stopped in here en route to visit the universities, and we all found it positively blasé. I recommend others to keep walking forward towards the river as there are numerous restaurants along the street at much better quality and prices.

As your standard lunch café, its average. Mostly pre-cooked food of okay quality that’s then warmed up– okay coffee and above average pastries. The sandwiches that are made to order are supposed to be very good– but I haven’t tried one yet. However, for the nights its open for dinner(thurs-Sat only), the french menu is fantastic! I had giant wonderfully tender ox-tail just falling off the bone– too much for me to finish and enough for lunch the next day. Pricing wasn’t cheap, but for the amount and the quality of the food it was a value meal. We also had a slow roasted cut of beef, and some duck. In addition 3 of us split a single dessert– which was actually a trio of desserts(all very tasty and presented nicely.) All in all, very good and a nice surprise.

I can’t believe I’m there first the review this. I’ve only been there for lunch. Nothing super special but it was tasty. We had take-out chicken, noodles and lasagna. It was good food and definately a nice to place to visit. The items were pre-cooked and reheated when you ordered it. I did see those that ordered it and ate it there the meal included salad and fresh skinny french fries. What is more to talk about is the Friday and Saturday nights. I know that by writing this it might ruin the special and exclusive nature of it all. From what I heard from a local friend that has lived here for years, is that they fly in a chef from France and he cooks special meals for those nights. If you can get past that you are in a little café, which in itself is very french then this place could be a very special find in Cambridge. I haven’t tried out this special Friday. Look forward to my next review.

How can this not have a review !! Best sandwich and lunches in Cambridge bar none ! Totally french — means queue can be large for lunch — but the food is fantastic — steak frites hot baguettes great range and attracts very mixed crowd from language students to local business folks to London commuters. Turns into posher place some evenings also. I cannot recommend it enough — for the same price as a few nasty M&S sandwiches you can have a great meal.
