Very nice staff, good food for great price. I went for crab cakes and seafood tagliatelle — both turned out to be good choices. Nice décor and atmosphere too — will definitely come back when in Cambridge next time.

We were so glad we found the Loch Fyne in Cambridge! After an afternoon walking around the city, we wanted to relax and have a nice meal before heading back to our hotel. We had been in England for three months and were interested in some real seafood. Loch Fyne didn’t disappoint. First of all, you HAVE to try the rope-grown Scottish mussels. Nicely arranged in a wonderful creamy broth, they were perfectly steamed and seasoned. We had them as an appetizer, but they are available as a main course. If you eat nothing else at Loch Fyne, you could be happy with the mussels. Ask for extra bread to soak up the broth! I had grilled cod with chips and steamed samphire and my wife had pasta with squid, scallops and mussels. Everything was wonderful and we left feeling we had really experienced British seafood. Loch Fyne is a chain, but it felt like a real mom-and-pop restaurant. It’s a little pricey, but not out of line with what you get. Try it!

Loch Fyne is a fresh fish restaurant located opposite of the Fitzwilliam Museum in Cambridge. Plaice, the whole fish in garlic and butter is really delicious. 3 course lunch menu is 12.9 £. You should definitely give a chance if you get bored from usual fishnchips. #wholefish #fishnchips #plaice #lochfyne #freshfish #foodie #cambridge #UK

Very fresh and innovative dishes! Outside the box presentation & preparation! I enjoyed the sophistication in food and the laid back atmosphere! What a dynamic mix of senses! A must try for anyone who’s had lots of the typical kinds of food. I really enjoyed the grilled seafood platter… very fresh and delightful. Surprisingly wonderful was the Pimm’s gelatin dessert! Outside the box and very delightful!

Excellent value, especially the set menu. The portion size of mussels was a little small but they were delicious nonetheless. The service was friendly and the restaurant itself is well decorated. On nice days there is also outdoor seating in a whitewashed courtyard which has a Mediterranean feel.

Had a great lunch at Loch Fyne restaurant. The reviews have been a bit mixed, but after a visit to the FItzwilliam museum, which is right across the street, I was walking by and saw a sign that said they had a 2 course pre-fixed menu for £10, so I decided to give it a try. The place looked like a traditional seafood restaurant inside. Lots of dining areas and a really nice patio with flowers outside. There was a glass case with shellfish inside and an all around casual oceanic atmosphere. Had the Spinach Soup with crème fraîche, served with granary bread for my first course. It was very thick and creamy, and after adding a little salt and fresh ground black pepper, it was great. For my entrée, I got the fish of the day which was a whole baked dab fish. It was very light and not fishy tasting at all. Just peeled the skin back, lifted the meat off the bones and it was time to get down. Along with this deal comes a side, so I chose the mixed vegetables, which was peas, carrots, and broccoli in a light butter sauce. All in all, It was a nice light lunch. A refreshing break from heavy British pub food, with far less calories. All this and a glass of Sicilian Chardonnay was £19.20. That was also with a tip. Great place. Can’t wait to come back for dinner!

I was here on a Tuesday night. Immediately we were told several items on the menu were sold out. Two things being mussels and chicken liver. I was disappointed but nonetheless I stayed hoping that the other items would make up for it. They didn’t. I ordered the salmon ceviche. The salmon was great but the rye toast that accompanied it was awful. It was stale. Then I had the lobster spaghetti and that was pretty bad. There were two bites of lobster. I like my pasta al dente but not uncooked. Overall, I was disappointed in the entire experience.

Been to the restaurant with my dad who’s visiting Cambridge for the first time and loves seafood. Really great food and welcoming atmosphere, will definitely go there again. Food was really good and fish seasoned well.

4.5 stars. I have been going to Loch Fyne for years now and it never disappoints. With family in Cambridge it is a bi-annual event to have dinner there. Try their amazing smoked fish pâté and special, wild fish dishes. It’s a romantic spot, too — lots of nooks and crannies for private conversation. The servers are friendly, too. Love this place and will return again and again.

Ok my dinner here was superb, had oysters to start with and absolutely loved them, ended up ordering more. The main was steak on this occassion(Aberdeen Angus no less). The interior was warm, had that old English feel to it with huge oak beams across the roof etc which made it extremely warm and inviting. The price however left me with a small burn in my wallet(120 pounds for two of us) but this did include a couple bottles of wine to smooth the evening along.

As the name would suggest, this restaurant serves seafood. I love the service here and the food! It’s located on Trumpington street which makes it a perfect location for many visitors and residents of Cambridge. It’s a great restaurant with fresh fish so it can be a little pricey! All in all, a tasty evening!

Nice Restaurant. Seefood is really fresh and well cooked. Service is also fine once you rich your table arriving at the rush time is not the best if you dd not make a reservation. My personal advice would be not to hesitate to follow the chief day suggestion.

As seafood restaurants go, this was pretty weak especially for the cost. I was entertaining collegues from out of town, and one of them came down with food poisoning. This could happen anywhere to anyone, but I was a bit embarassed.

Me and my partner decided to celebrate our 2nd year anniversary by booking a table at Loch Fyne, we’d perused the menu beforehand and had out appetites whetted before we’d even arrived! On arrivial we were greeted by a very friendly man and shown to our table and our waiter appeared shortly after to get us started, I plumped for a Norfolk crab soup starter which was accompanied with some bruschetta style bread, the soup was outstanding, deeply flavoured and piping hot — Perfect! For my main(and my partners) we went for one of the specials on the menu that night which was Bream topped with caviare butter — being someone that has only really eaten the staple fish(cod, haddock, salmon, tuna) I wasn’t aware that the fish was going to have many bones in it, which it did however the fish was really tasty and the bones were removable, if I had been told beforehand that the bream was very bony I wouldn’t have taken a huge bite to start off with! No worries though, it was really nice! We didn’t have a dessert as we were stuffed full but we were offered and shown the dessert menu in a comically cheeky manner which worked really well! We had the house white with our meal and it complimented the fish perfectly. All in all I would recommend Loch Fyne to anyone, I plan to return and I want to try the lobster next time!

An extremely pleasant place. Beautiful location, unpretentious décor and very friendly staff. They served great, thick lumps of smoked salmon, chunky tiger prawns with chilli & a really tasty fish pie. All washed down with Old Speckled Hen. Fresh, reasonable value & recommended.

To be frank, Loch Fyne doesn’t provide as high quality food and service as the chain claims to provide(as conveyed by its website, etc). The whitebait starter was seasoned well, but lacking in crispiness. The thai fishcake starter was not remarkable. And yes, I am the innocent American so I went for the good ol’ Fish & Chips, which was uneventful to say the least. The fish and chips was quite a big portion, and not good, but still ranks lower than that from The Plough(which was quite excellent). I took a taste of my friend’s smoked haddock risotto — -it was a bit TOO salty to both her and my liking. Overall, the meals were decent, but not as high-quality as the chain tries to portray, and the service was particularly slow. It’s a fun place to witness customers arguing for long periods of time with the staff, however — complaining about unaccepted vouchers and rude service. It was at least something to do while we waited for a very long time for our food…

I must say that i found the Cambridge Loch Fyne restaurant to be of a very good standard on the couple of times i have visited. On both occasions the service has been efficient and helpful without being intrusive and the food has been fresh, presented well and tasted good. I dont know if i have just been lucky because i have had others tell me of bad experiences here which would make them think twice about returning. This is the case with other Loch Fyne establishments around the country too, but if i am happy with what is on offer then i will continue to return.

Really not keen on going back to thie restaurant after the meal we had once with friends. The food was gritty and considering this is a fidh restaurant some snad probably isn’t the first thing you want to tase when having a fish pie. It is also quite expensive and frankly not worth the money.

For ages I thought that Loch Fyne was an independent restaurant, before I travelled the world and saw a few of them dotted about the place. Nevertheless, it is still a pretty excellent seafood establishment. This particular branch is in a very charming old building with visible roof rafters and wood flooring. Fits in with the aesthetic of Cambridge very nicely. The fish here is excellent, the oysters and smoked salmon in particular. There’s a very good wine list too and service is generally above acceptable. I actually worked as a waitress for Loch Fyne at their temporary restaurant at the Chelsea Flower Show and having seen how all the food is prepared in the kitchen I would still definitely eat it! The prices are quite a bit above average, but the quality justifies it. However, it is a bit annoying that you have to pay extra for vegetables and potatoes.
