let’s be clear, this is not high end, authentic chinese food. This is where you go when you want ‘chinese’ food and don’t want the burden of deciding what to order. All you have to do here is waltz in, take your seat and go hunting among the steam trays. \ Not everything is a home run of course, I liked the bbq ribs, sauteed bean sprouts and the shredded duck. I would bump this up to 4 stars if they get wi-fi for solo diners like me.

A worthy Chinese buffet, with some pretty good offerings. Just to clarify — the duck is of the shredded variety(and it’s not really worth making the trip for it exclusively). Some of the highlights: –Little crab claw balls(even though they’re mostly bread/filler, they’re pretty tasty) –Teppenyaki bar(you could probably fill yourself pretty happily on a few rounds of that alone — be warned, can be a bit salty, instruct the cook to use the soya sauce according to your liking) –BBQ pork To be honest, everything else is pretty well par for the course. Nothing outstanding, but nothing that’s awful. I’d say on a weekend evening, you might feel like you’re overpaying by the end of it, so lunch might be the best option.

Yum. Although this place can be a bit pricey, it is well worth it. If you are on a tight budget I would reccommend going on a Sunday evening, when they usually aren’t too busy but the price is reduced. I would also reccommend this place if you have a big appetite, it doesn’t make a difference if you don’t, but I choose to not snack if I’m going to Lucky Star, as I intend to get my money’s worth. THEFOODISAMAZING, so why not? There is so much to choose from, Starters, Main Meals, Deserts and even a Tepenyaki bar over towards the corner to have your meal fried. Mmm.(: Starters are always the best place to.start. They have a lot of variety and tasty bites, perfect to leave you wanting more, perfect for coming to the Main Meal. Also delecious food, bigger portions, MORE variety(can you believe it?) which then you start feeling stuffed. But when you see the desert, you’ll have more room I’m sure;) Cake and Brownies?! But if your one of the mellow ‘I can’t I’m on a diet’ type, have no fear, they do fruit salad with a wide range of fruit and they also do Ice Cream! Delicious flavours, also a lot of variety, perfect for kids and also the adults that change their minds on the diet and let loose! I enjoy this place, and I hope you guys do too.

My first time at lucky star started with a good impression and ended with an even better one. The chinese restaurant is well presented with plenty of space(to swing serval cats in) and provides very attentive staff. When you enter, staff are waiting to seat you in accordance to the amount of people you are with. There is a beautiful mahogany bar, giving the restaurant a piece of class as well as that, the window decorations really give the Lucky Star restaurant a very warm cultural feel. The Drinks are reasonably priced and(if you go in the evenings) the food is stocked regularly and kept to its freshist. There is the very traditional three course meal, where you go to the starter buffet then the main and dessert. The food for the starter is your usual chinese takeaway. Moving on to the main, you are offered your more popular and more traditional chinese favourties, such as Won Ton soup and dumplings, prawn crakers, chinese pancakes etc. Then there was dessert. Dessert is fairly plain with the options of cake, brownies, fruit and ice cream(cheap). Granted you can go up until you’ve had your fill(or even afterwards, if your that way inclined.) Although, the reason for four stars is the price per head, if your with a company of seven people, you better get ready to saw off your arm and leg at fifteen pound per head, plus drinks, on a saturday evening; However with the quality that follows, by all means, visit Lucky Star. By far more superior than any ‘normal’ chinese takeaway ordered form home.

There are different prices for different times, and at 7pm on a Friday night it was £14.99 per person. I think this was quite expensive for a buffet, although there was duck and a good selection. Food was tasty, but not particularly hot, staff were friendly and attentive.

The lucky star Chinese restaurant is one of the few buffet style restaurant in the city centre. It is located inside the leisure centre, which makes it the more convenient for a pre cinema or bowling meal. As you already know, it is an all you-can-eat restaurant and I was well prepared to fill my belly with all the sweet starter and main dish. Anyway we went into the restaurant and we were welcomed by a friendly staff at the door and led to our table. The table and chairs were neatly arranged; I picked up the drink menu and was impressed with the list, which had Italian, French wine and the house wine. The waitress was quick to take our drink order, which was bottle of their house wine for a price of £12. The most attractive feature of the restaurant was the bar; it had large mirrors and well stocked with drinks. The bar had a polished mahogany counter and beautiful small lights that gave the atmosphere a cool feel. After some sips from our drink, we made our way to the serving area; the sight was colourful with mind-blowing dish varieties. Pancakes, satay, rolls, crispy aromatic duck, noodles, duck dishes, rice dishes, spare ribs, beef dishes and a list other dishes made up the starter. I tried not to overdo it with the starter so as to have some space in my belly for the main meal. This is chosen at the teppanyaki counter and cooked by the experienced staff on a hot plate that also acts as woks. I went for a sea food theme and that is king prawns, quid, oysters and fresh mixed vegetables with rice noodles . Within few minutes we were tucking into our meal, which tasted real good. There were not many choices for desert, they did have different flavoured ice-cream but it wasn’t creamy and I guess it is one of those cheap ones you get in stores. The service was quick and staffs were very friendly. The food tasted nice even though it was in large quantity and it is a place to feed a large group of hungry people.
