S & G Cycles

I left my bike wth S & G Cycles to replace some ball bearings that had fallen out during shipment, and to fix a sticky steering column.
I have no complaint with the quality of the repairs, but the owner took the opportunity to «fix» a number of other things that didn’t need fixing. For instance, all 4 brake pads were replaced, not because they were worn out (they weren’t), but because, according to him, the pads were for road bikes, and therefore not fit at all for a… road-​commuter hybrid? They were working pretty fine on the severe downhill slopes of San Francisco, so I would have to disagree with his opinion. He certainly lost my trust by adding £10 to the bill for an extra repair I never asked for and he never consulted me about, despite having my phone number. I will be trying a different bike shop for my next repair job.
