this is an upmarket«gastro pub» with a quite good dining room, pleasant serving staff and a sufficient selection of beers on tap. Convenient location.(Fish and chips eleven pounds).

Is it just me? English pubs intimidate me. When I travel there, it’s a pretty corporate existence, dining with colleagues and such. For my most recent trip, I was set loose alone, and did pretty well. I wanted some pub fare, but when I wandered over to the famous Eagle, I felt stupid and lost, not knowing the etiquette about ordering, feeling dumb dining alone, etc. Fortunately, I had my pub experience when a couple of colleague friends and significant others took me out to the Green Man one evening. Three things of note: a fabulous burger with chips, a very attentive waiter, and an OUTSTANDING list of single malt scotch whiskys(or if you prefer, whiskeys). The Mac Daddy had an 18 year Macallen with some lovely brew, and a fine time was had by all.

This is really nice pub on the trumpington road area of Cambridge. the bar is really cosy but has a great garden for the odd sunny day we may have. the resturant is open plan and exactly how you would want our kitchen to be, feels quite rustic but modern and homely too it has recently been renovated. The food is great and a typical gastro pub menu but with ample rich tastes and flavours. Its a really good place to take friends for dinner or to drop into for sunday lunch as it has a large car park its very convienient. The prices are a little more than a regular pub but are worth it and the service is usually very good too.

We went here recently for a Sunday lunch, as a mid-way point between my parents home and my fiancés parents home. We had no idea what to expect, as neither of us had eaten here, but we wanted to meet in or around Cambridge. We chose the Green Man as it was easy to get to on the A10 into/out of Cambridge, had its own car park, and served all day Sunday Lunch, rather than just 1 or 2 hours over midday. We booked ahead, so we were treated to a great table in the far corner, away from a lot of noise, but retaining enough atmosphere. The place was vibrant and the staff were very friendly. The food was fantastic, with very generous helpings. The beer selection was good too, with some lagers, along with a few good ales like Landlords, IPA etc. They made a slight muck-up bringing our coffees out before our puddings, but they were polite when we complained, and re-made the coffees after we finished our puddings. They didn’t rush us at all, but were attentive rather than just ignoring us. If we looked like we might want something, for example another round of drinks, they made subtle checks and asked without interrupting us. We were in no rush to leave, and they let us sit and chat for a long while after finishing, before we motioned for the bill.

This is a lovely little chic pub along trumpington road. The bright and airy interior with modern art works adorning the walls compliments the beautiful coloured settee on the lounge. The best sit in the room is beside the window facing the wok & grill restaurant also on trumpington road, it is a great sit for people watching while you sip your drink. Light snacks are available to nibble and nice cocktail from the bar. It’s menu for kids makes it quite family friendly. It is a great place to have a laugh with friends and enjoy the evening, especially on a summer night in the beer garden.
