Went here today with my family and it was our first visit. The meals came around on a conveyor and many were similar. There was a menu but it was not explained to us. We just waited as similar rolls and salads went by. We eventually found out if we turn over the menu there were further choices but after we were seated no one really came to see us and make sure we were okay. The food was okay but the service put a damper on things. To top it off… they charge for water! They say it is because it is filtered but the idea for charging for tap water is ridiculous. The taps at the table have a small sticker that states«still» or «frizzy». You need to look really closely to notice there is a price as well. At least the server/manager was willing to remove it from the bill because we were not aware this was even charged for. Probably not going back for these reasons.

Debated between one and two stars. Some of the food is OK not all though. We were seated promptly at this«conveyor belt» sushi place. Our 3 year old was very excited to try it mostly because of the conveyor belt. Then our server disappeared, nothing was explained to us. We saw some water taps at the table and glasses so we helped ourselves to water. We read the menu and tried to match the pictures to what was on the belt. We quickly realized that the selection on the belt was Very limited. Our server didn’t come back. After we picked a few mediocre items I looked around and saw others eating bigger meals. I turned the paper around and realized that there’s another side! A made to order food side ah! I finally saw one of the servers and asked for a miso soup which came from a machine?! Like a dispensing matching. It didn’t taste like much. Either way we had already had enough food and decided to leave. We were given the Bill. They were about to charge us for 3 waters because well apparently they charge for water because it’s filtered! It was quickly waved as the person realizes that it was never explained to us. I did complain that nothing was explained to us and that we were Confused through the whole experience. No plans to return! Oh and their California rolls included«mayo» as one of their ingredients(??)

This was the first«conveyor style» sushi place I have ever been to. Even during my travels in Asia I missed out on several opportunities to eat at one. So this unfortunately was my first experience. I have eaten here twice and each time I ended up having the same experience. The food is not great quality but it’s fast and some dishes are better than others. Also since they charge by plate you really have to strategically pick your options wisely. They have around 6 different color plates and each one indicates a different price. In general it is really difficult to eat a decent sized meal for under £15 per person at this place. I would honestly recommend not eating the sushi here due to the ridiculous pricing. The sushi is not good quality and it resembles basically a more expensive version of what Wasabi just around the road offers. Picture the price of a full box lunch of sushi from Wasabi(around 4 – 5 quid) for 2 – 3 small pieces at this place. That’s what you get in terms of sushi. As far as the other dishes go it’s hit or miss. Their Katsu curry options are pretty good. I also enjoyed the beef curry noodle bowl they have. From the conveyor I would also recommend the panfried dumplings, seaweed salad, and vegetable yakisoba which are all inexpensive options.

OVERPRICED. The food doesn’t taste good or fresh, and the service was pretty slow… Definitely not authentic sushi.

When visiting Cambridge, we expected to be taken to some dark local pub for pub food and beer. Alas, our UK friends have eyed us closely and took note of our love for sushi. As the lovely birthday girl also had sushi on her list of fav foods, we met at Yo! Sushi in Cambridge. This was my first conveyor belt type restaurant.(YAY!!!) The concept was new to me. I honestly felt a little bit greedy to grab plates from the belt as they passed by. The plates had happy fluorescent colors to signify their price and sort of food. The sushi’s were of good quality but not the type that will send you through the roof. This restaurant, which appears to be a chain restaurant, as many sushi restaurants in the West seem to be — could be qualified as ‘nice’. The food is good, not super savory and the place has a hip ambiance, which resembles the Japanese feeling. So if you’d wanna go for a nice time and some good sushi, Yo! Sushi will not disappoint. If you look for amazing sushi, look a little further!

The worst sushi I’ve ever had. Can’t understand where there’s so often a line. The combinations in the rolls were disgusting, the place was dirty, and way too expensive for what I received. Couldn’t finish any roll I took off the belt. I would much rather eat grocery store sushi over this. Skip it!

Avoid! Do not let it spoil your mood! Had an awful experience on 05.12.14. Before that I had visited it 2 times and had decent sushi with good service, but slightly overpriced. Last Friday(around 14.00) I was served by arrogant looking waiter who looked and behaved like he was the superstar not the waiter. I ordered 1 prawn yakisoba. After waiting 30 minutes(being intentionally skipped while everyone else whom he served was asked a usual«are you ok?» question), I asked him where is my order. With the usual arrogant manner he told me that the order might have been lost because they are using wifi system and sometimes it just doesn’t work(!). I asked for the bill(because I a couple of «moving sushi plates»), and left. My recommendation is to visit any other sushi place, where the orders are not being lost and you are services in a normal way. Moreover the food got really worse over the past month. Please do not ruin your lunch/dinner with that fake«Japanese» restaurant with terrible service and mediocre overpriced.

After 6 months of no sushi apart from supermarket offerings(shudder), I see no reason why Yo Sushi shouldn’t get 5 Stars. Yes it’s quite pricey, but like everything else in life; you get what you pay for. Good quality, fresh, and varied sushi. The staff are lovely, and this particular establishment is one of their busier stores, so there’s always plenty on the conveyer. If you’re that hung up on the price, go on «Blue Mondays», where everything on offer is £2.50. Oh, and get the unlimited refill miso.

I went here because my ten year old brother speaks so highly of this place and describes it as his favorite sushi place in England. I quickly learned that this is due to the fact that this is the only sushi place he has been to and because he only gets 4 plates of the Tamago nigiri and edamame. Cambridge is really lacking in sushi places. I was craving sushi during the 3 weeks I was in town, but unfortunately the lackluster sushi at Yo did nothing to quell my craving. The interior of the restaurant is modern, colorful, and fun. My brother is obsessed with the conveyor belt aspect of it. Where it is lacking severely is the quality, creativeness, and overall taste of the rolls. In addition, the prices are unreasonable for what you get. If it was half good I wouldn’t mind the price, but the sushi here is just simply not good. My brother was right about the Tamago and edamame being«good», but it’s hard to mess those up. The only other good thing about Yo was the look and design of their high chairs. Very modern!

Yo Sushi offers an enjoyable dinning experience in the center of Cambridge. No, you won’t find top-notch sushi passing by on their conveyor belt, however, what is offered is decent quality for decent prices. During my visit the place was packed with a short wait for seating. The staff was friendly and informative. And our special order dishes were promptly served up with smiles. It’s a great place for a casual date or a solo meal due to limited seating options. I look forward to my next sushi fix while visiting Cambrige.

We were actually on holiday in England and Cambridge was one of our stops. While doing some shopping at the Grand Arcade we stumbled upon this place. It looked pretty cool and inviting from the outside so we had to try it out. It’s got that hip diner appeal and has the conveyer belt with little plates of sushi going round and round like a toy train. You grab whatever catches your fancy and then pay for the item according to the color of the little plate that it comes on. They also have an extensive menu with hot items like katsu, soup, and noodles. What I particularly liked, because it was novel, was the water faucet at the table. You could choose regular tap or carbonated. They even had a table buzzer that you could push to summon your waiter. The sushi wasn’t bad and I also ordered the softshell crab from the menu. We had a nice experience here and would definitely come back.

This place is good and super amounts of fun! I like how you press the call button and the music changes and then the server comes to you. If the sushi item or habachi item that you want is not on the conveyor belt you can order it and it is delivered as soon as it is made. The different colored plates designates the price of the item. Prices range from £1.70 to £5.00. I personally really enjoyed their salmon sashimi style it comes with five slices of premium Scottish salmon. I also really enjoyed their seaweed salad, I had it made to order. I had two orders of their salmon sashimi and was nearly full. It ran about £3.90. I also ordered the spicy tuna hand roll and it was to die for! It came with tuna, spring onion and cucumber with spicy masago sauce, mayonnaise and masago. Followed by two pieces of masago sushi. Had no complaints. The sushi is fantastic here. My husband grabbed a mixed of hot items, he really enjoyed them. He also tried stealing some of my salmon sashimi that I was not impressed with sharing. Can’t wait to visit again.
