The lodge is AWESOME. I stayed here while I was part of a choir-in-residence at the Cathedral. This being my second time staying at the lodge, I knew what to expect: great location/convenience, nice staff, nice enough rooms(last time I stayed in the back Burgate building, which isn’t as nice as the main area.) My expectations were exceeded this time around, and I would totally stay here again. We had a room facing the courtyard which was a little less private than I would have liked(on the ground floor) but the room was very nice otherwise. The bed was a little too soft for me, but I have definitely had worse. Wifi was free and generally good speed. We got breakfast every day which was so, so yummy. I had been waiting for a full English the whole trip and finally got it here. People in Kent seem really proud of things that are made there, and it was fun to have Kentish sausages and Kentish apple juice at breakfast(not to mention Kentish cider in the pub…) I love that the lodge pass you get with your key gives you full access to the cathedral when it is open — you can run in and look around/take pictures anytime you want. You also get quick entry into the gates with the pass, and after hours access to the close after the gates get locked. It feels very safe inside the gates, not to mention an historic experience! Pretty cool to stay there. There are so, so many restaurants and shops within walking distance of the lodge, and pubs too! It was fun for me to leave the pub, run back to my room for something, and go back to the pub within 10 mins. Being in Canterbury and at the Lodge was a welcome change from the previous week, when we had been in residence at St. Paul’s London. No rushing around or worrying about catching the bus/tube. Lastly, the staff went out of their way to accommodate our group on more than one occasion, which we appreciated and made our life much easier!!!

Really nice and quiet hotel within the Cathedral grounds. An absolutely privileged situation with private parking and seminar facilities. The hotel is of modern construction and the comfortable rooms all have on suit shower rooms, tv’s, tea, hair dryer, iron and ironing board. All rooms apparently have a view of the Cathedral. The hotel does not serve dinner. Breakfast has been ok: service a bit slow if you order«English Breakfast», quantities of tea and coffee have been the best I have ever seen in a hotel. Service is friendly and courteous, both at breakfast and at the reception. Recommended!
