Rubbish. Waited knew nothing about the menu and when the food finally arrived two of the five dishes were burnt and my burger was overcooked and very dry. Would not recommend it.

If you’re the sort of person who becomes a borderline sociopath amid the hip charms of Windsor Place’s popular Buffalo bar, you may just blow a gasket cross the street in 33 a. The wine bar vibe is ratcheted up by a smattering of suited types with a tendency to look down upon anybody in more casual attire, but ignore them — and, admittedly with more difficulty, the inflated bar prices — and there are worse places for a sophisticated beer. The on-tap ranges are notably better than the average, while bar snacks are dispensed in bowls rather than packets. Somewhat surprisingly, however, 33’s highfalutin ambitions get flung out the window when the rugby is on, packing them in like any other city centre drinking hole. That said, as the big screen normally seems to be positioned at the back end of the bar, the front section is actually a great place for a pint in times when it’s standing room only everywhere else with a television.

This is a popular place for professionals to wine and dine their clients, or to enjoy a spot of lunch or after work drinks. The emphasis is definitely on classy, with smart décor, high quality food, and premium drinks such as Champagnes, good bottled beers, and high-end non-alcoholic drinks such as elderflower presse and fair trade coffees. Most of the core clientele are suited and booted, and mainly a little older, but you do get some younger and less formal people, and I’ve eaten lunch there a couple of times(minus any sign of a suit). They do a nice halloumi dish with Mediterranean vegetables, and their bruschetta is lovely too. Their outside seating area, with wooden slatted tables and chairs, is justifiably popular on sunny days amongst those who know about it. To find this bar, look out for the church on Windsor Place and it’s right next door.

The fact that 33 Windsor place has a meeting room for conferences, training days, meetings etc is all you need to know about this place. An excuse the for shirt and tie brigade to drink during work hours. Décor is very homely yet moodier, the fire place at the front is a great place to sit in the winter months. Otherwise it’s not my type of place, went in, bought an over priced bottle of beer. Left.

I’ve been coming to this place for years and not once had a bad experience. I generally come here for lunch or an early evening meal and find that food is always top notch. Additionally there is something on the menu to suit any appetite. When I’m after a light meal I generally go for one of their filled breads, the gorgonzola with caramelized walnuts is particularly scrumptious. If in need of something more substantial I’d definitely recommend the pan fried king prawns which come with chips and a salad(good value for £9.95). The only slight niggle I have is that for those unfamiliar with 33 it is often unclear whether or not you should wait to be seated(you don’t need to). What’s further confusing is that it is actually table service, though staff can be rather slow so I often find it easier to just pay and order at the bar. Don’t let any of that put you off though, 33 is well worth a visit, and I’m sure that you like me will just keep coming back!

One of the more upscale pubs in city centre, drawing the professionals and lawyers for long lunches and after-work pints. But most other people should feel welcome. Nice décor and atmosphere. Food is higher quality pub food. Definitely a good place for conversation.

I’m not going to talk about the décor or the building as Qypers before me have already done this very eloquently. Instead, i’ll tell you three reasons why I like this place and I’ve given it 5 stars. 1. In the winter there is a real fire. 2. The Christmas tree is MASSIVE and gorgeous and you can look at it while you sit by the nice, warm, real fire. 3. For £5 you can get a Bloody Mary mixed to perfection and served in what can only be described as an upended, ornate glass lampshade it’s that big. Seriously. If you don’t believe me just go in and order one.

Situated on Windsor Place across the road from Buffalo Bar, 33 is perhaps aimed at a slightly older crowd than its neighbour. Décor inside is simple yet elegant. Wooden floors, wood panelled cream walls with log fires and lots of solid oak furniture, I felt it was pretty without being inspired. Much of the wow factor for me is the beautiful building itself with a really lovely frontage and a roomy garden area tucked out the back. For smokers and al fresco diners the outside area is a real bonus. It’s covered over with big garden umbrella’s and has a few outside heaters, perfect for crowding round whilst having a winter cigarette. I had a nice evening here, a friend had hired the area at the back for a leaving party and it was pleasant enough but it just wasn’t very busy or atmospheric. It felt a little empty — which is a shame as they have quite alot of space. However, it looks like a nice place to eat in the day and would perhaps appeal to those who don’t want to get sweaty in Buffalo with the indie crowd.
