This florist was supposed to be doing my wedding but 3 weeks before my wedding I have just been to get my deposit back and have had to find another florist. The first arranged consultation with Pepi didn’t happen because she forgot, the second she had to leave half way through and after the third, she quoted a new price of £160, original quote being £65. She then tried to blame me for asking for something different, which I hadn’t, she had got me mixed up with another bride. DONOT waste your time or money on this florist, they are very rude and completely disorganised not to mention con artists.

A complete shambolic disgrace, how to ruin an elderly woman’s 90th birthday whilst her son has to be overseas on business and 8 hours behind UK time. On 25th May 2013 around 4.20pm UK time I ordered flowers for delivery on 27th May. The web site confirmed payment taken and availability of a delivery slot on the chosen day from a site offering same and next day delivery. 27th a UK Bank Holiday, apparently not a problem. A few hours later, still on 25th a note says delivery unavailable on 27th, would I like like 28th instead. I reply no, please deliver early or not at all. I hear nothing until morning of 28th(late night 27th where I am staying) to say delivery was not done. What appalling service and misrepresentation. These people may be good florists, they are otherwise clearly business charlatans.

Allwood’s is a modern looking little florists on Whitchurch Road in Cathays that offers a good selection of quality blooms at reasonable prices. They also carry a selection of exotic looking houseplants with broad drip tip leaves with a waxen deep green appearance… sorry, but names elude me… you know the kind that I mean?! Although this is a modern fronted shop with a pretty snazzy interior, they actually carry quite a few of the more old fashioned flowers that I love. I really like heavily scented flowers like lily’s, freesias and carnations, all of which I can get here on a pretty consistent basis. Carnations and freesias don’t seem to be as fashionable these days, and so are not so easy to find elsewhere, which is a shame! Allwood’s also carry all the latest exotic varieties, and even have a small selection of fruit to include in their displays. I love this novel idea, but then I would… if anything is edible, I’m a fan!
