In the old Llanishen Village you can find a mix of banks, a post office, chemist, hairdressers, a Co-op and a couple of places to grab a coffee. The one that offers coffee as part of its actual name is the Coffee Lounge and it’s a great little place to grab a cup and while away a weekend afternoon. The location has changed hands a few times over recent years, but under Coffe Lounge it has certainly proven itself to have staying power. It’s a cosy and friendly atmosphere and offers a more homely alternative to various high-powered coffee shops that you may be able to think of. Perhaps the choice isn’t quite as wide, but it is great to be able to walk in and simply want a white coffee without worrying about whether the person behind the counter will completely understand what you mean.

Right in the centre of Llanishen village, the Coffee Lounge is without a doubt better than you average coffee shop! Light and airy, with small tables, a number of sofas, and an outdoor eating area for those sunny days(which are here at last)! They have an excellent selection of homemade cakes, as well as pastries, sandwiches, crisps, and soft drinks, all of which can be for take away as well as eat in. The atmosphere really is great! As i sipped my cappuccino, Frank Sinatra crooned mellowly in the background. One little corner of the shop had shelves with jars of old fashioned sweets(which are the best kind of sweets in my opinion). Ornaments are showcased in glass fronted cabinets. A community noticeboard detailing local events as well as copies of todays newspapers seemed very popular. There is a steady stream of customers, but you can generally get a table with little bother!
