I came here for a conference, so we used their conference room which was a good size for the number of people their which was about 50 – 60. When the room was hot and it did get hot, they had good wide door that you can open that led to the patio. The patio was a good space for kids and adults alike, it had a couple of garden chairs and tables as well. The lighting could of been a bit more better in that room. The room also had a bar as well. The toilet’s were good and had the Dyson handryer which dries your hands very quickly. David Lloyd has a Costa coffee machine, I ordered the Latte, It was sooooo bad… that is not a Costa coffee because the latte in the Costa shop is smooth, and amazing that that was a very failed attempt for the real thing.

Pretty much as posh as you can get in Cardiff. I was never a member but I was the yoga teacher and thus got to see the facilities and occasionally swim in the pool. In my day the whole yoga idea in the club was pretty new and we had to have the class in a function room. More than once I was clearing tables so folk would have enough room for a good stretch. Things have improved now and they have a ‘Mind and Body Studio’. Perhaps I should re-apply for the job? They also have the only outdoor pool in Cardiff not in someone’s garden. It’s not big but on those occasional days its something of a treat.

This is the best gym in Cardiff. Amongst other things it has a great gym, 2 swimming pools, 1 indoor and one outdoor both heated, squash courts and 14 indoor tennis courts too. It also has a nice social area and plenty of social functions in its diary. So it has the lot and of course you have to pay for it. It is the most expensive gym in Cardiff but hey you’ve got to expect that what with the facilities it has. If you’re thinking of joining then you either have a bit of disposable income or you take your fitness seriously. This is where you will often see well known rugby players working out or more often than not relaxing in the pool. When I was a member here I used ot pay £65 per month and this was just for health and fitness e.g. the gym and swimming pools. It is a bit more expensive if you want access to the tennis courts too. You may see this as expensive but imagine how much a month you spend making your body unhealthy e.g. drinking. So why not spend that amount trying to make it healthy? If you have the money this is the place to join.

This is my favourite gym in Cardiff. Not only do they have a fantastic, well equipped gym they also have two fantastic swimming pools, tennis courts and they offer a superb personal training programme! Let me continue… this gym also has a salon… a crèche… a restaurant and it even has wireless!!! Need I say more? Ok then I will… This gym also offers a physio service, a basketball court and if you feel like celebrating they also have function rooms to hire!!! Seriously this gym has everything you could ever want or need a gym to have. It is GREAT!

David Lloyd is the largest gym in Wales, and probably Cardiff’s best known and most established gyms. Located on the outskirts of the city — just off Newport Road, close to junction 30 of the M4 — its position makes it convenient for lots of people who don’t work in the city centre, and don’t want to get caught up in city centre traffic just to visit the gym. This place has a LOT more than most gyms, and while membership may not be cheap you get access to so many facilities that if you use it extensively it can be fantastic. Obviously it has all the usual cardiovascular and resistance training equipment, plus eight personal trainers, but it also has 14 indoor and outdoor tennis courts, as well as badminton and squash courts. They have indoor and outdoor swimming pools, a sauna, a steam room and a kids’ splash area. They also run more than 90 classes for all levels and ages, ranging from aqua aerobics and ballroom dancing to pilates and yoga. You can put your kids in a crèche or nursery while you go off to exercise, and there are also leisure facilities such as a restaurant and bar, am outdoor bar, a TV lounge, a hair and beauty salon and a physiotherapy studio. If you’re seriously into spending time exercising or treating yourself, David Lloyd basically has it all. At the moment David Lloyd has a promotion allowing you to join and enjoy free membership until 1 September 2010, so it could be a good time to join.
