Have been going here for many years, the food is consistently delish and fresh. The owner(name’s gone) will make you special dishes based on the things you have previously ordered. He has a knack of knowing his customers and what they like. I recommend the steak with peppercorn sauce. They bake fresh bread on the premises, which can be served with olives and olive oil & balsamic. The portions are plentiful, if you require more veg they will accommodate you at no extra cost. Although the house wine I feel is expensive, this place is worth a visit. :))

Went to La Lupa for a friend’s birthday and it was really great. The atmosphere was warm and friendly, the food was very good indeed. Good value for money too! Definitly will return and soon hopefully.

One of tastiest Italians I have ever eaten in, as a vegeatrian whose not overly keen on pasta I usually opt for a Pizza, except in La Lupa where the pasta is delicious. A good sized portion which doesn’t leave you feeling stuffed and full of cream! This is a friendly resturant with a good balance between casual and smart. A great place to take your parents or to go on a date. I would definately recommend booking, and as with all Italians they are closed on a sunday.

La Lupa is situated in an unfortunate position. It is opposite the infamous Kings Castle, and the recently acquired Bar Sicilia, although I don’t see the latter presenting them with too much of a problem… a fine Italian dining experience it is not,(but it is a really pleasant little café that does reasonably healthy fast food to eat in r take away). The kings Castle is another proposition entirely. With rowdy locals that are responsible for some pretty unsavoury behaviour on occasion, I’m sure that the type of people that usually frequent La Lupa have cause to think twice about returning if they are unfortunate to witness any of it. It’s a real shame, La Lupa is a great little Italian,(although I think the Kings Castle may be up for lease. I don’t know who would be daft enough to take it on, but we can live in hope! Head here for one of the best Italian experiences in Cardiff. It’s as quaint as the Porto Due, but not anywhere near as gimmicky, where the food isn’t as good, and it’s homely as opposed to the sumptuousness of the equally good North Star. Eat here if you want to feel cosseted, and go to The North Star if you are willing to jump in your car and feel like being surrounded by high design and a whole lot of people.

La Lupa’s menu is inspired by cuisine originating in the city of Rome and the surrounding region, with dishes such as Pollo con Peperone and Saltimbocca alla Romana peppering the menu. They make their own fresh pasta and bread on site every day, and try to use the freshest of ingredients for their sauces, too. Starters such as the homemade fresh soup cost from just £3.50, and there’s plenty of variety, ranging from mussels cooked in garlic, white wine and lemon juice to Caprese, a fresh mozzarella salad with tomatoes, oregano and olive oil. My favourite starter is the bruschetta de verdura, a garlic bread with chargrilled marinated aubergines, courgettes and peppers. For mains, there’s a wide range of pasta and pizza, including an impressive selection of fish pasta dishes(penne salmone is my favourite) — plus a good variety of meat dishes(chicken, veal, lamb, beef). Despite stiff competition from its neighbour, the Italian Way, La Lupa seems to be equally and justifiably popular; perhaps the competition created by sitting side by side is what spurs on these two restaurants to serve up some of the finest Italian food in Cardiff? Both restaurants are friendly, inviting and excellent value.

This is exactly what it says on the tin: an Italian ristorante and pizzeria. They serve all the delicious foods you would expect; pizza, pasta, calzone, gnocchi… all those amazing foods that your body craves as you try desperately to stuff it full of salad and green things instead. Tomato sauce to lick off your plate. Cheese you have to wind around you fork. Tender meatballs that made you look like a hamster as you chew… Genuinely, there is only one place in the world that I’ve ever eaten better tagliatelle; and that was in Italy, in a restaurant in a cave by the sea. The service here is always good, and for such a busy restaurant, this place always manages to remain an intimate space. Italian food is often considered to be the best food in the world, and La Lupa shows us why. Simply delicious, trust me.

Well… what can I say, I absolutely love this genuine, authentic, unpretentious little Roman restaurant tucked away in Canton. It truly is a great find. It’s unfussy, warm and inviting and reminds me of the sort of places I went to as a child. The sort of places where you have a long dinner with bottle after bottle of wine and hours of freeflowing conversations. The menu is really diverse and I truly believe there is something for everyone, not to mention the great choice for vegetarians and infinite pizza toppings for fussy folk alike. Seafood pasta is one of my favourite things to eat in the whole world and there is a section on the menu dedicated to it. Much respect on that front. Service is fantastic, the staff are willing to pretty much bend over backwards to accommodate you and the price is fantastic.(Three courses, two people, under £40, bargain!) Give it a visit, it’s absolutely wonderful.

went to La Lupa this past weekend. Hadnt eaten there before so was interested and looking forward to going. was absolutely packed inside, no free tables so glad that i had booked the day before. was asked to choose drinks to start with, they had a great selection of wines and beers. i went for a bottle of Peroni, as did a few of my mates. once they arrived we started looking at the menu, have to say that i wasnt overly impressed with it but at the same time it did have a vast choice. i went for a chicken dish, they did mess 2 orders up on our table though and we had to send the plates back, but once they came out with the right dishes everyone tucked in. the chicken dishes came with a side bowl of what seemed steamed veg and diced potatoes. and was extremely yummy :) the dessert menu was quite small, but i had heard from a friend that the Profiteroles were to die for, so chose them and boy are they nice :) you only get 3, but they were huge and they topped off a lovely meal. the staff were friendly and very knowledgable about the food that was on offer and were helpful when we had to send the food back. for 5 main courses, 2 round of drinks and 3 desserts it all came to about £80, so it wasnt that bad.
