My fav mexican!!! I am a plain simple eater but always order the half chicken with honey peri sauce. Its delicious but trick is to order sour cream to do a mix with the sauce. love this place esp with the early bird offer.

I do love Las Iguanas having been to the one in Bristol on many occasions. This is like many others, the interior was okay, kind of rustic. The staff were very friendly and actually for a group of about 18, our one waitress didn’t let anyone’s glass stay empty long and I salute her for that. The food was also really good and as I expected. For those that haven’t been before it is your standard Mexican menu that you find in many chains. I had a butternut squash and spinach chimichanga which comes surrounded by refried beans. It’s delicious. The thing that let this experience down was the cocktails. We are pleased to see it was happy hour so 2−4−1 cocktails. So £6.80 for two which is a great deal. I must have drunk 8 – 10 cocktails in the two hours we were there and by the time I left I was mildly tipsy! I can’t imagine there was even a full single measure of alcohol in those drinks so god knows how they measured out the 5 spirits that go into Long Island ice tea! The the food wasn’t so good it would have been two stars!

My favourite branch of Las Iguanas so far! The vegetarian options are imaginative and tasty and the smaller lunchtime menu offers superb value for money. It was a bonus that we arrived during the afternoon extended happy hour — I had forgotten that happy hours still exist outside of Scotland where we can’t be trusted with such liquid temptations! The 2 for 1 offer on drinks requires that you have two of the same drink or cocktail. Non alcoholic cocktails are also available. Despite such obvious temptations we controlled ourselves and just had one Long Island Iced Tea each. A mistake in the making of this drink was quickly rectified with good grace — the mark of good customer care. Starters and main courses were as good as you’ll get anywhere in a Mexican or South American restaurant in the UK, and the service was top notch. Happy Hour is 12.00−19.30 daily and all day Sunday to Wednesday. Thats one very stretched hour! Well located around the corner from the Millennium Centre and overlooking the Mermaid Quay boardwalk, Las Iguanas Cardiff Bay is a joy!
