Among the many take-aways situated along Cowbridge Road East in Canton is The Deli, which seems to be more of a sandwich shop than a full on deli counter offering gourmet foods — although the sandwiches they offer are really delicious, well-filled and fresh. It’s sat right next to Somerfield, on a stretch of the road with few other places offering sandwiches except for the tasteless, pre-packaged stuff of the supermarkets. Further down the road there’s Greggs and other bakeries, but the Deli stands out as one of the best places to buy quality sandwiches and baguettes in this part of Canton. They offer all the usual fillings plus a few more unusual ones besides, and definitely a far wider range than you’d get in Greggs or Somerfield!

It’s a sandwich shop next to a national supermarket — where would you go to buy your sarnie? Well — I’ve done both and I will never choose the supermarket again — I had a cracking baquette full of chicken, bacon, salad and mayo for £3. I would have had to buy 2 sandwiches at the supermarket for the same portion. Pus it was clean and I was served buy a cheery guy who seemed happy to have my custom.
