The Smoke Haus

I love Smoke Haus.
It’s a place where you can go to indulge in your gluttonous urges.
Go ahead, order a massive platter of food American-​style and walk out with absolutely no regrets. The food is amazing and the portions are huge. My only regret is that as someone who is trying to be more health conscious I have to let my love for this restaurant become just a once-​in-​a-​blue-​moon treat for myself.
~ Atmosphere:
It’s a very large and spacious restaurant with a fully stocked bar to boot. There’s plenty of seating for individuals, couples, and also large groups! The décor itself is pretty basic with a classic wooden look inside, but they keep things clean and comfortable.
~ Customer Service:
Great! The servers were really friendly and check to make sure everything’s alright now and then. Even though you don’t tip in Britain, I couldn’t resist leaving a small one. The owner also seems really passionate about his food since when you go to their website, you can see his blog where he takes a tour of the BBQ scene across America. Who knows he may even make an amazing Unilocaler one day! ;)
~ Food:
Absolutely delicious. I ordered a Chili Dog (foot-​long) which came with a side of chips and coleslaw for £10.95. You can actually double up your hot dog for only £3 more but my appetite isn’t that huge so I just went for the regular single and was STILL stuffed. The chips were delicious — crispy on the outside and soft on the inside as all chips should be. I believe they were handcut as well which added an extra dimension of enjoyment. As for my hot dog, it was the biggest hot dog I had ever eaten and one of the most delicious. The meat itself was of very high quality (not those cheap hot dogs you get from a tin at the supermarket) and the homemade chili they had over the top was packed with flavour and delicious.

With all the great restaurants Cardiff has to offer, I feel like Smoke Haus gets overlooked a lot of the time and deserves a lot more love. When we visited (albeit it was lunchtime), there were only a few other tables filled. Hopefully they get a lot busier during dinnertime because they totally deserve it! When it comes to great American-​style BBQ in Cardiff or even South Wales in general, I highly doubt you can get better than Smoke Haus. With an owner who is so passionate about BBQ, I’m sure my future visits will be just as great!
