I stayed here for business for 6 nights. The room was very comfortable. Mattress and linens comfortable, a/c worked well, there was a mini-fridge, and in room safe, iron. The free wi-fi worked well. The bathroom only had a shower, but it was nice with a rainhead. Breakfast was included in my rate and was pretty standard, nothing special. The location is about a 5 min walk to the Cardiff Queen Street train station and is surrounded by tons of shopping. The staff were very helpful. My only downside was the walls were thin and I could hear the people in the room next to me. It was pretty noisy, so I don’t know if I would stay there again. Other than that, good stay for a moderate priced hotel.

I just stayed at the Thistle for business for a single night and was quite pleased. The room I had was larger than expected with what seemed like a crazy high ceiling. The bed was nice and large, and the wifi was completely free — very good for a hotel stay especially as it was also a decent speed. I’m always fanatical about hotel showers and this one did not disappoint — it was a rain shower of some description. All in all, I would prioritise staying here as a matter of course the next time I’m in Cardiff. It’s only a short walk from Queens Street station which itself is just three minutes from Cardiff Central station by train.

This is where we had our cheerleading ball last year(and where it is this year, as well, in fact, because it was so good last year!) and I was so extremely happy with every part of the experience. So, as well as obviously having rooms — which we didn’t use — this hotel runs functions. There is a good reception area, quite beautifully decorated, where we were met by staff who led us down through the foyer to a hall at the back. The hall itself wasn’t that attractive really — especially after the gorgeous front room — but it wasn’t like it was ugly by any means. There were, I think, about 12 tables of 8 and none of them were packed in. There was also still room at the front for a projector screen and a little area for awards so it’s a very large room! The food was excellent. We had a three course meal, which was served with wine which was included in the price. There was a good number of bread rolls on the table and the place settings were lovely. The staff were friendly the whole way through, even when one fool got too drunk and had to be asked to leave. In case you’re thinking that that’s going to put you off, he was EXTREMELY drunk, so everyone thought it was justified. This year we have a DJ playing after our meal, so fingers crossed that that’s good! The whole experience was brilliant and, of course, that’s partly because I was having an evening with all my friends. But it was more than that — so thank you to the Thistle! I’ll see you in May!

We had booked this hotel as it was recommended by a good friend. I booked a double room back in Dec. Having arrived and found the hotel proceded to check-in and made our way to the room and found that we were allocated a twin room. I went to ak to change room and was told that there were no more room s available. I did point out the the desk manager that this had been booked since December of last year and this was nt good. The reply was no more availabe rooms. This was at 2.45pm.You can tell the hotel has been renovated recently as the fittings in the room were finished off poorly. Got woken up the next morning at 8.02 with somework men underneath us using a hammer drill and it felt that the drill bit was comming up through the floor. The location was smack in the middle of Cardiff next to all the shopping you can manage. Few bars opposite the hotel. Next time in Cardiff it s back to the trusted Hilton for us as I will be giving the Park a wide birth for the next couple of years.

This Hotel is absolutely beautifully done inside. I came here for a Christmas party this year, and have to say wasn’t entirely impressed. Although the interior design was gorgeous, not so great for a Christmas party when compared with, say the Marriott for example. Was greeted on entrance and told where to go, then our coats were hung up and then were greeted with a glass of Pimms. This was all very nice, but when we eventually went through to the other room for Dinner, and the tables had crackers with very very poor gifts, balloons to blow up, party poppers, party streamers, party blowers, Christmas hats, and glitter top hat containing all the goodies. We had fun with these. FOOD– Three of us had ordered a vegetarian starter(which was goats cheese and onion in a small pastry cup) on one of our tables and were still waiting when everyone else had finished their food. Then there was the soup, if you want to call it that, it was not even an inch thick from the bottom of the bowl and had a lump of bread in the middle with bits of veg and chick peas. The main course was processed mashed up and stuck back together chicken wrapped in bacon with wet stuffing inside, slightly roasted but not crisp hard uncooked potato’s, few carrots, few sprouts and gravy. Still the vegetarian option did not receive the meal until halfway through the party had finished theirs and was a microwaved vegetable pasty with a few carrots a few sprouts and a two hard slightly roasted potato’s, bu no sauce and no gravy(DRY). We asked if there was some sauce that went with it as it was very dry and was told no but the chef could make one up. They finally brought it out, but everyone there had finished their main course and its not so great eating alone. The dessert was the same pastry cups used in the starter filled with a thick chocolate center with orange sauce and a white chocolate mousse thing, this was ok only it should have been in different case as we had already eaten that one in the starter. Then followed by tea coffee and mince pies. The dance floor was tiny i don’t know how they expected everyone to dance on there! but most people seemed to be having a good time although there want enough room for everyone to mingle and some people were sat down some were in the champagne bar and the other bar. I think the party should have been a bit more restricted to a certain part and a bigger part of the hotel. The drinks were reasonable for a hotel. The women toilets were absolutely bogging by halfway through the night covered in toilet paper toilets blocked and right to the rim full of toilet paper and peoples s*. Disgusting. I am sure this is a lovely hotel to stay in as it is beautiful but sorry not tops for food or service here at a Christmas party.

I stayed here with my partner whilst in Cardiff to watch a stage show. Excellent location in the city centre, yards from the pedestrian shopping area, local eateries and just down the road from the New Theatre. Cardiff does have a lively weekend nightlife and there are a few bars nearby to the hotel but we weren’t disturbed
