This was the 3rd Ibis and final hotel that was booked for my Contiki tour. The Ibis rooms are identical so I won’t go into that. This one also had the exact same layout as the other two. Same large soap bottle that is used as shampoo, body wash, and hand soap. There were also 2 large bath towels, no smaller hand or face towels provided. There is a hair dryer provided in each room as well as a pants press. A pants press is a giant board used to press pants. It’d be easier to provide an iron folks. Really. The elevator had this really cool looking touch pad which was different from what we were used to. It also was a bit dodgy when it came to punching in a floor number. The breakfast was standard English breakfast with additional yogurt, fruit, and granola snacks. For a decent night’s stay, you really can’t go wrong with an Ibis. It’s not luxurious by any means but the beds are comfortable. The rooms are clean and is centrally located to most of the sights and restaurants. Most importantly, free WiFi.

It is a okayish hotel, right in the heart of Carlisle, and it is so near to everything, and even boasts a free car parking area in the back. But you need to inform the reception in advance, which they will issue you a badge to put in your car. Otherwise Traffic Warden will fine your car, if they dont see a Hotel badge in the car! The rooms are well sized and big, have own en suite, but the en suite area is bit funny, as it is feels like hopping in a space cabin! Which it is plasticky all over the décor — which I mean that the sink are connected to the wall in the same décor, and are connected to the floor/showerwall/ceiling which I think the Ibis Hotel have put a ready made box with the toilet stuff inside the box, and you goes in the box, and Hey there’s a sink, toilet and shower in the box — know what i mean? which it is all plasticky all over it is weird and gives me a space feel impression! The bed are comfty, but it is quite hot during the night time So the heating is bit off putting, as I dont know how to work it out! The breakfast area is cramped and right in the public area Which I am not quite too keen on it, as I feels like I am eating my breakfast while the open public can look at you and stare at you as if I am a animal in the zoo’s.

A great place to stay if you are visiting Carlisle as it is central to the shops and nightlife. My relatives always stay here when they are visiting. The prices are very good and the rooms are always comfortable and clean.

Stayed here over a Bank Holiday weekend(Sun & Mon) and there was a huge difference between the two nights. The hotel is on a very busy road with lots of pubs and Sunday night was horrendously busy with bank Holiday revellers. Not a major problem but the hotel was quite noisy, double glazing cuts down on the street noise but doesn’t eliminate it. Monday night was lovely and quiet by contrast. Overall the staff were very friendly and the hotel is within easy walking distance of the shops, castle etc. Good value for money — but watch out on weekends if you’re not partying!
