Firstly if you have a car the place is ideal, it’s a little out the way from Belfast and that’s a positive. Modern rooms, well cleaned and friendly staff. Breakfast was one of the good ones too. Go ahead book a room and save some money but not on quality

The Hotel is now renamed the Loughshore Hotel Carrickfergus. The staff are still the same helpful happy bunch. The rooms are excellent for 3*, and the food is superb. They have renovated and added a new bar, and it’s great with free live entertainment at weekends! Definitely recommend a visit.

Didn’t stay, but 7 adults had Sunday carvery. Pros: Lots of parking 4 choices of meat in carvery Food was piping hot(cold starters are with desserts in the middle, hot soups, cocktail sausages etc are next to the ice cream) Staff were friendly and attentive Food was tasty, I had ham and pork and it was yummy. Roasties, cabbage, mash, stuffing and gravy — all yum! Large selection of desserts — choc covered profiterole was my fave! Cons: Speakers too loud 2 jugs of diluted orange for over £8!!! No baby changing in the men’s toilets Not bad at all for an all you can eat, 3 course Sunday carvery

The hotel itself is good value. Especially considering hotels seem so expensive in Belfast. It could have been a bad experience for me but i found that ppl were slamming doors all night and running around. Not really the best nights sleep I have ever had. The room itself was fine, nothing fantastic to write home about but had the main features we all look for, including a nice tea station. The staff however are lovely and friendly, which is always great. Overall i think you get what you pay for here.

A bad start, I booked a king sized bed and upon arrival was given two single beds on the ground floor even though I booked it two weeks in advance. Although the manners of the receptionist was exceptional. He then transferred me to just the type of room I was expecting on the third floor. The cleanliness of the hotel was great, But the hotel amenities didn’t pass my expectations. Televisions were old outdated Cathode Ray TV’s nobody would watch. The bathroom was stocked well with towels but lacked shampoo’s, conditioners, shower gel etc. Everything else including the heating, décor and ambience was fine. On the location of this Hotel it’s not in the best location. On a main busy road with car dealerships, Lidl’s and KFC’s ruining your view of the Irish Sea. The room windows were not soundproofed and we could hear cars passing by all night. But If you get a room on the top floors facing east you will get a lovely view of the Irish sea . The buffet breakfast in the ‘red pepper’ was great. Huge selection of anything you would want at no extra cost. One of the staff-members here was very helpful and well mannered. Check out time is 11AM. But we ended up leaving at 2PM with no complaints. Im happy with what I paid for and would recommend this Hotel if you cant find any hotels in Belfast or are staying in Carickfergus.

The Clarion is an all round ok hotel. It is multi functional in that it is a hotel, restaurant, bar, wedding venue and conference hall. I was invited to a wedding reception here recently and was pleased to see the hotel had pulled out all the stops for the couple’s big night. The only downfall was the extreme loudness of the band(which got louder as the night progressed) but that’s not the hotels fault I guess. It was very dark inside though which was another negative, but all in all it was a good night. I found out that they do a GREAT wedding package deal which includes; room hire(for ceremony & reception), four course meal for 100 guests, champagne for bride & groom and a stay in the bridal suite and all for £995! Pretty good value if you ask me. The restaurant at the hotel is called the Red Pepper Restaurant which houses Pizza Worx which is another part of the restaurant. They offer some great deals both during the week and at the weekend such as; two course meal for only £10 if you come Monday to Saturday from 12pm-3pm or instead you could try their full Pizza and Grill menu or two course Special Menu for only £12.50 Monday to Sunday 5pm-10pm. Then on Friday if curry is your thing then why not head down to Curry Night at the Clarion Hotel? Only £9.95 which includes a bottle of beer or a glass of wine, woohoo! If you’ve had enough of wining and dining, then you can treat yourself, or that special lady to a variety of beauty treatments at their new Boutique Salon called Rojo which offers massage, manicures, waxing, facials, spray tanning etc. If you fancy a weekend break away from it all then you could certainly do worse than staying here. Or if you live locally then why not call in and sample some of the food on offer? It would be a shame to waste what’s on your doorstep.
