Stopped off here tonight as id heard good reports about the place. I’ve a mixed review, the fish was probably one of the best I’ve had… lovely flakey white fish in a crispy thick batter. However the chips wernt my favourite, there are better chippies around Carrickfergus serving much better. The portion was good and a fish supper was only £6 so it was good value. But I am a chip lover so I’d prefer to go elsewhere. They do have plenty of lunchtime offers on and the opening hours are good as they open at 12pm-9.30pm mon-sat and 4.30−9.30 on Sunday

Stopped on the way home for some chippies which were lovely … And only £3 for a large portion. Nice clean premises and there is a small sit in area as well. Some lunch time deal bargains were displayed on the wall which seemed to be great value !

Generally chippies are chippies. You have tiny amounts at opposite ends of the scale that are either excellent, or terrible, with every other one averaging in the middle. This one, is one of the few I would call ‘excellent’ Gone are the days when I can get away with eating this sort of food on a weekly basis, but I make it my business to visit the Cod House once a month. I don’t know what the big difference is, and I don’t know how they do it, but somehow the do the absolute best Fish Supper with curry sauce that I have ever found it possible to get. The food is obviously deep fried, but yet food from here still does not require blotting from endless sheets of kitchen roll before it is edible. I think it’s been almost a month since I last treated myself… Maybe this weekend…
