Been going to Springsteen’s forever and have generally found the restaurant and food great. The portion size is huge with the food being terribly greasy. I had the chicken with Bacon and although the the food tastes good, I you feel like you should bring a life vest incase you drown in the fats. The menu here is massive also and ranges from American diner favourites to Italian. I would love this place to serve other sides similar to most restaurants. I. e sweet potato fries /wedges are all the rage just now and I find myself asking for them everywhere. The waitress mentioned that lots of people ask, but they still haven’t been added to the menu. Overall Springsteen’s is a great diner, the food on this occasion was just ok, but j know I have had better. Perhaps if there was some healthier choices on the menu and some sweet potato fries, I’d score 5

I love going to Springsteens. It would be one of my most frequently visited restaurants in the area. The menu has a wide variety of dishes available from all day breakfasts in a variety of sizes and shapes, burgers in every way you could possibly want them, pasta dishes that are delightful and many other specials. Desserts and coffees etc are brilliant too. I have never had a bad meal here. My personal favourites would be the carbonara, chicken stack and the light bites CBLT, for it to be a light bite the portion is massive and delicious. My favourite hangover cure here has to be a large strawberry milkshake. Hard to beat.

I love the burgers in here. The chicken burger with pulled pork, is oh so wrong but damn it, its so tasty. Has the feel of a proper dinner. Good sized portions and friendly staff. A creature of habit when I got here as I love the burger sooooo much!!! *stares off dreamily*

Eating out at a restaurant in the UK is a bit of a different beast than it is back in Canada. Perhaps it’s because tips aren’t really expected; they generally pay their staff equitably and as a result the prices are significantly higher than back in North America. Perhaps it’s because people generally eat at takeaways or at home for the majority of their meals. Whatever the reason, I find that when we go out for dinner, the portions are HUGE. I’m talking ‘American’ huge; portions that would make Guy Fieri salivate so hard it would look like the creature from Leviathan driving that red Camaro. So imagine you go out for dinner here to a restaurant that tries to emulate American restaurants, and therefore portion size. My culinary calculator says DOUBLEPORTIONSX2! Springsteen’s is a local«American Diner» that’s about as American as the time Apu from The Simpsons outfitted the Quickie-Mart to try and convince people he was American. But the people who work there are super nice and so my wife and I went in on a rare night of the two of us going out sans child. I ordered the Peppered Chicken, a dish SO large it came out on two plates — one for the main and one for the fries. My tastebuds danced in delighted expectation when I noticed that the gravy I ordered did not come in it’s own bowl on the side. No, they had sourced the largest ladle the kitchen owned to slather the delectable ocean of sauce all over my TWO pieces of chicken. The fries were standard fare of course, piping hot and ready to be plunged to their fates as many before them had been. A quick dip revealed a respectable 75% opacity as I consumed the fried morsel of goodness, and as hints of the pepper from the chicken hit my tongue, I realized this was not your typical ‘American Diner’ gravy. It was flavourful, bold and coated the fry well enough that only one dip was necessary, a must-have feature for any review 3.5 boats or over. It even complimented the chicken perfectly; it’s a rare meal to be had when I can literally cover all parts it with the gravy and have it be enjoyable throughout. Often a mere afterthought in the chef’s repertoire, I hold this gravy higher simply because the beef stock was just rich enough not to be overpowering. It’s a sweet spot that’s tough to hit, but this ‘American Diner’ in the middle of Northern Ireland nailed it. More gravy reviews at:

Came back to Springsteen’s today for another lunch. Instead of being caught up in the Americana of the place I simply ordered something I knew they would do well… tea, and fish and chips with vinegar and brown sauce. Fish was excellent, well cooked, moist and flavorful. The batter was crispy with satisfying crunch. Chips were good. Tea, excellent! Upping my rating by a star. Glad I gave it another try.

So, the Springsteen’s on Botanic Avenue has died(possibly…), to be replaced with another American-style diner. I can’t say I was overly upset — I gave it a fair chance but it was always pretty poor. Average food that cost too much. Although Springsteen’s in Carrickfergus is clearly owned by the same people, this outlet is much, much better. Nicer, less cramped surroundings and a bigger, more reasonable menu. Typical family days out with any clan can often revolve around going to the cinema and heading somewhere nearby for a fantastically unhealthy dinner — we’re no different. A couple of weeks ago, the four of us all ended up going for burgers named after American presidents — I in particular didn’t look at the rest of the menu when I saw gherkins and mustard in the description beside one called The Washington. It’s a very good family place, this. The kids are entertained, the staff are friendly, there is stuff to look at. Yes, you’re only going to trick your body into thinking that it’s getting some nutrition, but you’ll be quite content afterwards. What the hell happened to the one in Botanic?!

This particular Springsteens I think is ok. Im a big, big fan of the one in Botanic. I think it gives a crackin’ meal at a good price and has been the site of many a good night out for me and my friends. This particular branch I have only been in the once. I had a friends birthday meal here and found the service to be pretty much what you would expect. There was about 8 or 9 of us and the staff handled all the orders with aplomb. So often you can go out in a group and people don’t get what they order etc but that wasn’t the case here. As other reviewers have said this is a licenced place so you can have a brewski with your burger and fries which is always a treat, especially if you are on a night out with friends. And if you are, you could a lot worse than going to Springsteens. Despite what other reviewers may have said.

Having visited all of the Springsteen’s restaurants in Co. Antrim, This one is definitely my favourite, and luckily for me, my most local too! Whether it is a post night out fry up, pre-cinema dinner, or Sunday night meet up with friends for a hot chocolate and slice of cake, Springsteens meets all of our requirements with ease. The style of the restaurant is that of an American diner — it is spacious and very well laid out. The seating arrangements are pew-like booths, which allows for a comfortable relaxed envioronment where you can chat with friends and not feel like other patrons are listening in! The menu will suit people of all tastes, aside from the usual ‘American Diner’ type burgers, fries and shakes, there are options such as soups, club sandwiches, wraps, and my personal favourite, a number of Mexican options, such as Burritos and Chimichangas. Drinks wise, this is a licensed premises, and as such can purchase alcoholic beverages in addition to tea, coffee, and soft drinks. All of the food is reasonably priced, and the portions are huge, you will not go hungry after eating here! Last but not least, and the reason why I give this establishment the full five stars, is the service. The staff at Springsteens in Carrickfergus are always cheerful and helpful, facilitating any special additions or changes to our order without any fuss(I’m one of those annoying customers who always wants my order slightly different to how it is on the menu) The staff always get the balance just right, checking how the meal is shortly after serving, and noticing when drinks are running low and offering refills, but without being overly intrusive to our dining experience.

Always very clean and get seated quickly, no matter how busy it is. The food is reasonably priced and the portions are big. The garlic potatoes are a particular favourite! Staff are friendly and efficient and the toilets are always in great condition. Overall, a great family restaurant. There’s a large free carpark outside too.

I love springsteens! It has such an amazing atmosphere and I love all the license plates and album covers all over the place-it just has a really good feel about it. It’s one of those places where you feel comfortable going in just for a coffee or a dessert if you aren’t up for a full meal, but equally its very enjoyable to go for a full on meal. The servings are very generous and theres a wide variety to cover the majority of tastes(although it maybe isn’t the best option for healthy eaters!) good value for money and the staff are very helpful and friendly i personally recomend the chocolate mountain sundae and the nachos!

Springsteens is a favorite place of mine, its best described as an American Diner being a busy place with a bit of a buzz about it. Mouth watering diner style dishes are to be enjoyed with a beer or whatever you fancy. They even have thrown into the mix some local dishes as well; for example you get a great Ulster Fry any time of day so forget about the colesterol levels and go for it! Finish off with one of their hot beverages or something from their ice cream selection.
