Hung Wan

This is my default chippy for a fish supper, odd I know since it’s a Chinese takeaway, but the fish and chips are the best in my area.
Friday nights and weekends can get very busy, but they do accept phone orders, but the quality of the food can suffer on these days.
On a good day the salt and pepper chicken wings are amazing, I also really like their chicken with ginger and spring onion as well as beef in black pepper sauce. The chow mein dishes are a little too wet for my liking, and the curry dishes are just chip shop curry sauce, onions and meat — very starchy.
Late nights on my way home from the pub salt and pepper chips are my guilty takeaway food item — don’t knock it until you’ve tried it!

This is my favourite chippy to go to and i highly recommend it. It is in the centre of heald green village on the main road so it can’t be missed. Their menu offers the usual chippy menu such as fish and chips, pies, sausages and also a full chinese many with a large variety of meat, fish and vegetarian dishes for around £5.80 including rice or chips. The curry sauce from here is absolutely divine and i havent found another chippy which beats their curry sauce! The staff are friendly but the family that run it are all chinese where english is not their first language so sometimes you may need to repeat yourself. Also check the change you are given after you have paid as sometimes i have been short changed or given too much back. I highly recommend it, if only to try the curry sauce!
