Value for money. Small family-owned farm with their own farm shop, coffee shop and very children-friendly! I didn’t go into the shop but did get time to enjoy cream tea in the café. For only £2.50, I enjoyed a pot of tea, with extra hot water should I have fancied more, a warm home made fruit scone served with clotted cream and jam! It was delicious! The staff were lovely and checked to see if I enjoyed the scone and if I wanted a bacon sarnie to take with me! The coffee shop also had some farm-themed gifts, greeting cards and nik-naks for giving your home a touch of country feel. The place had been newly finished with extra seating inside next to a cosy log burner. There is also extensive seating outside where there is also a mini bouncy castle! I will be popping by again to pick up some meat soon but wanted to share it with you Unilocalers now as its a bit of a hidden gem. Bring your family here this weekend(if the weather is not too grim)!

I’m so glad I found this place! Here is a proper family butchers that offers any cut of meat you could possibly want! I visited Nixon’s Farm Shop in my quest to find a whole, bone-in, pork shoulder to make pulled pork. The staff here showed me the two main cuts from the shoulder, and which would be better for what I had planned. They butchered the joint right there and then for me — which was great as the previous two ‘family butchers’ I’d been too did’t have the whole animal carcass, they just order in the bits they want! Whilst I was waiting a fellow customer recommended getting their beef brisket minced to make burgers — now there’s a great idea! Definitely trying this come BBQ time. Nixon’s also has the best value chicken breast meat I’ve found anywhere — mainly because they include the mini-fillet so one breast will easily feed two people. There’s also a selection of store cupboard, bakery and deli items, as well as free range eggs, local diary ice cream and pre-prepared frozen meat items. But wait, there’s more! across from the farm shop is a pet shop and a nursery/kids playgroup, as well as a selection of solid fuel, hay and logs. They even have an aviary and paddocks with guinea pigs and rabbits up for adoption — the farm owners just ask that you donate money to Christie’s Cancer Trust in exchange. If you have something particular in mind its always worth giving them a ring so they can get it ready for you in advance, also around Easter and Christmas ordering in advance is essential. Don’t forget to get some of the homemade sausages — so good!
