On a shopping trip to Chelmsford(I hate Shopping) we popped in for a refreshing pint and a bite to eat. The nachos with chefs chilli was out of this world. Spicy and hot with loaded jalapeño and cheese. Worth a try if you are in that neck of the woods.

The Saracens Head Hotel is very centrally located in Chelmsford town centre which is a huge positive. The hotel does have some rather unappealing downsides however. The room I stayed in(Number 11) is one that looks over the internal courtyard. As the window looking into this courtyard does not open the room was very hot and stuffy, and there is no form of ventilation. I checked into my room at about 5:30 at night. There was no hot water in the bathroom, and it appears to be that way outside the times the hotel management expect people to be bathing. Whilst the shower cubicle was clean, the pipes in the bathroom were not. The bed was comfortable. However all the pillows needed to be replaced. There were four pillows and none of them were any thicker than a video cassette. Security also appears poor. Reception is frequently unmanned, and there are no measures to prevent nonguests from walking the corridoors. I would not stay here again.
