This review is purely as a pub(never eaten in the restaurant upstairs). If you’re not from Cheltenham, this lovely pub is in the nicer area of Montpelier. It’s a short walk out of town, but certainly worth it, as you’ll walk through a great beer garden and past other lovely pubs, bars, restaurants and shops. It’s also tucked down a little street that you might miss, so make sure you’ve got your google maps at hand. I really do think they’re got everything right here. Inside are little rooms and snugs that you could make your own with group of friends, and the staff are always really friendly. It does get quite busy on a Saturday night, but they put lots of staff behind the bar meaning your wait isn’t too long. Local beers are always changing on tap, and they have a great selection of ciders too. Every year the beehive have a cider and beer festival where they make use of their gorgeous garden out the back of the pub. Using hay bales as a bar, they have extra bars in the garden and it really is worth visiting!

It’s a pub. You hand over brightly-coloured pictures of the Queen, the friendly barkeep gives you pints of beer in return. Seems like a fair deal. No need to complicate this review any further. The outdoor area is quite nice; the tables are all under tents. It rained while we there, but we stayed nice and dry whilst still enjoying the cool evening weather.

Went here the other night with 4 friends and sat in a very nice room above the main bar. Pleasant unstuffy service, and very tasty food. Had a goat cheese starter and Tuna steak for the main. Tuna steak was moist and very well cooked. Best part of the experience was that I was able to use my TasteCard for the first time ever which meant a 50% deduction on the food!

Went here for my birthday two weeks ago on a Sunday lunchtime. Had read good reviews and was looking forward to it especially as most of the family had travelled from the Midlands for it. We ate upstairs and I am afraid although the staff were friendly the service and food was sadly lacking. The vegetables to be shared amongst nine of us was served on two medium sized plates and one meal was forgotten and we had to call a waitress. One of us ordered a glass of wine which had to be asked for again and then, because we did not feel that we had eaten much we ordered deserts only to be told that the chocolate brownies were not available. Unfortunately the other deserts had nuts(which most of us did not want) and we either went without or had ice-cream. If it had not been for the excellent company this birthday lunch would have been ruined.

A nice pub with a good selection of beer and cider. I had their Friday night steak special: 8oz. rib eye dinner that included salad, chips, and a glass of Malbec. I sat in the beer garden, enjoying the wonderful spring time weather.

This is a good little boozer, tucked away in Montpellier. Nice, cosy atmosphere with a nice ‘local’ feel to it. Staff always seem happy and friendly. Good garden out the back, which is probably almost the same size as the pub. Good bar food downstairs, but with more formal food upstairs.
