Ate a late lunch here whilst in the area visting family. Even though we arrived just before they stopped serving, they accommodated us with good cheer. I ate the lamb stew and it was delicious, well-priced and served quickly. Would recommend.

Loud music, glacial and terrible service and foreign object in the entrée. But otherwise lovely restaurant. See pics!

The location is absolutely stunning with Tintern Abbey on the doorstep. There is a large garden with plenty of outdoor seating and a playground suited to slightly older children. We didn’t sit inside but it looked nicely furnished and had a country pub feel. There is also a café attached to the pub which is ideal for light lunches and snacks. We initially went there on a saturday for lunch, I had smoked mackeral fishcakes served with curried egg mayonnaise and salad. It cost £10 which wasn’t exactly cheap but the food was of a great standard and I felt worth every penny. My partner had a beef pie which was equally scrum my. This was all washed down with a local Why Valley ale called Butty Bach(I recommend if you enjoy a good ale) You also get the £3 parking cost off your bill if you park in the Abbey car park. We loved it so much we went back on the sunday for a traditional sunday lunch. I had a nut roast and my partner the beef. Again the food was lovely, served with a yorkshire pud and well cooked seasonal veg. If you are in the area I strongly recommend!

Very disappointed to turn up there this weekend, having travelled a long way to meet with family there, and having booked a table to be told that we didn’t have a table reserved in the restaurant — it transpired that a coach party had turned up later than booked in and were still at the table we had booked. Manager very unapologetic, with a take it or leave it attitude — staff offered to push two tables together in the bar for us near the door. Not good enough so we voted with our feet and certainly won’t be going back! I guess he doesn’t have to possess many customer care skills, being fortunate enough to manage a pub in such a great catchment area. He may find if he worked elsewhere he may have to change his attitude! Shame because it’s a lovely pub in great surroundings, we have been there regularly before. The rest of the staff are very polite.

This pub has been nicely renovated and employs friendly, helpful staff. However the food is overpriced and the portions are small, even stingy. The main course of mussels with garlic bread actually arrived at our table with one thin slice of bread(this meal cost twelve pounds!) When we asked for more bread we were charged one pound fifty for a small dry roll and butter. I left feeling hungry and fleeced. Dont bother eating here. Other places offer better food at reasonable prices.

Wow. just returned from a meal out at this place. The location is stunning with tintern abbey on the doorstep. The pub has been refurbished and looks amazing. Quaint inglenooks and priest holes. This place oozes character with parts of the building going back to 12th century. The menu was enticing and very reasonably priced. Main meals starting from 7 – 50, the quality of the good was outstanding and we will definitely be revisiting soon. GOONTRYIT — YOUKNOWYOUWANTTO!!!
