Visited here with my partner never again! It sounds fantastic on their website and I was expecting a lot, it didn’t even meet me half way. The farmshop itself is small, but has some good items the café is where my problem lies. Bad food, bad service and bad prices! We sat down and I ordered garlic mushrooms on toast while my partner got rarebit. When it came it was the most thinly sliced bread I have ever seen, the mushrooms were uncooked, the garlic butter not melted, the toast soggy from the vinegar dressing on the tiny side-salad. My partner’s meal, hardly any cheese, nothing special, tasted like plain old cheese on toast on very thin, soggy vinegar bread. We complained about the food politely saying why we were not happy to the waiter, he took our unfinished meals back into the kitchen and returned a few minutes later looking sheepish. Apprantly the chef had told him it was fine, nothing wrong with it. He asked us if we wanted our meals back to which we said no, we would not eat it, it tasted awful. The waiter gave us our bill and went off without a sorry or even a mention of a discount. We complained again at the till to which we got a ‘So sorry about that’ but again no attempt to resolve the problem, we hadn’t eaten half our meals but were still charged full price! We argued for a moment with the woman at the till, but with other customers waiting behind us and the woman showing no signs of wanting to help we had no choice but to back down. We paid and vowed to never return. Awful place, for £8.00(rarebit) I’d expect good cooking, good quality and good customer service. This place is lacking in all three. The one star is only because we bought a brownie from the farm shop before eating at the café and that actually tasted nice, so one star for that.

Bashal Barn is an amazing place you can buy everything. Food is good local produce and you get plenty on your plate. They are just about to open a party room for youngsters. Great wine and beer selections for the older once and why not browse the Antique centre on the first floor were the café just to be. Evening do’s Curry club and they are ten years old this May, celebrated with a beer festival and honest Lancastrian food Well done Bashall Barn

I’ve enjoyed all my visits to BB. Very pleasant location. Very good traditional lunches –and being a salad lover I thoroughly enjoy helping myself to the salad bar. Yum! An excellent selection of wines and, of course, great beers and ales having an onsite brewery. Friendly service and lovely views of the Lancashire countryside. No, it’s not cosy — it’s a farm building! But full of character. Just have tea/coffee and try the selection of delicious cakes and pastries — sit and watch the cows in the adjoining barn. I enjoy the antiques and rocking horses on the mezzanine — always taking home a very reasonably priced scarf or piece of jewellery. The shop has an excellent choice of homemade frozen meals and some small gifts. I also always take home a meat and potato and/or steak pie and some of their bluebell soap.

My wife and I visited Bashall Barn today(14÷08÷10) for lunch in the restraunt, I personally was a little dissapointed with the service from the staff, My wife ordered the heardsmans platter I had the rib eye steak and chips! the platter which is advertised as served with salad arrived at the table minus the salad leaving us both bemused as to where the salad was? I had to call a member of staff over to ask the question ‘were’s the salad’ to be told you have to help yourself its a self service salad bar they exclaimed! well Im sorry is it just me or am I to fussy? I had to sit there with my steak and chips going cold whilst my wife went to add salad to here meal, I just find that a bit bizzare that you can’t just get your meal without any fuss! and to top it off I had to ask for some sauces to go with my chips? with all the chutneys and sauces that they produce and buy locally, why why why not put some little tasters on the table for customers to sample with there meal? when I was asked if everything was ok at the till, I explained my dissapointment with the salad incident and the till guy just said’ thats the way we do it’ oh! well although the meal was good I don’t think we’ll be going back as the service was awfull! plus side the home made lemonade was very good…

I feel very dissapointed with Bashall Barn, what a wasted opportunity that place is !!! Brilliant location, superb building and very nice in general but i felt the the prices in both the shop and café/restaurant were way too high. A poor range in the shop was a let down, especially gift lines(please have a look at the barn in Scorton). The new building is very impressive and fits in well to the area, but seems a bit cavenous and un-cosy. And finally why oh why are they not doing a full range of ice cream sundaes(banana splits, nickerbocker glories etc) The kids only just enjoyed their ‘run of the mill ’ cornets !

Phew! Bashall Barn exceeded all my expectations. The attention to detail and cleaniness is set and maintained at a high level. The staff serving adds to the ambiance of the venue. The location, the menu and the food represents Lancashire perfectly.

Wonderful farm shop with lots of little goodies to buy. They have jams, chutneys, local meats and cheese and many different deli type food. There is a café which sells hearty food. The puddings are excesllent and the Chocolate mouse cake is the best there is. they make their own ice cream and beer and they are extending the premises to creat a restaurant. It is well worth a visit and the prices aren’t too bad either!
