Being a M&S Simply food store you’d think there wasn’t much to this place, but you’d be wrong. At the left hand side of the store is a decent size M&S café which does the usual café range which is usually restricted to larger size M&S stores. We’ve had the occasional lunch here on a weekend and the food is good and the service is what you would expect. One of these days we’ll have to pop in and try their Afternoon Tea which is currently being subtlety promoted. The store itself has all the standard M&S foods which they somehow managed to cram into this tiny little store. It even has a small bakery for fresh breads and pastries and a small freezer section. For those on the go there’s a small sandwich and party food section behind the min entrance, where you can grab a sandwich and get to the self service tills rather than fighting your way through the store just for a bit for lunch. It’s always busy at the weekends, especially when they do a meal deal(best to go as soon as the advert airs on TV so that you don’t miss out.) but if you time it right you can occasionally have the place to yourself to browse without tripping over the staff or having to dodge other customers baskets. As a vegetarian there is a decent choice available and M&S are slowly expanding their vegi options(I’m not just thinking about their range of Veggie Percy Pigs, Colin the caterpillars, etc — honest) however is is a bit frustrating when you see a nice desert on the TV adverts and find you can’t have it because it contains Gelatine :-( Overall it’s nice, good(slightly pricy) food, handy when you want a light lunch or hot drink, but best to avoid at peek times.
