If you are used to your Thai food being inexpensive, please let me hold your hand while I tell you some of the prices here. And perhaps get you to sit down first. The Siam Food Gallery is Esher’s answer to Thai food and if you know Esher, you know that they like to flash their cash.
On the plus side, it is a beautifully decorated restaurant, with plenty of little corners for intimate dining. There are fountains in many of the rooms, and a patio outdoor section, decorated with plants. I once came here on a Saturday night when the ‘entertainment’ came on — a beautiful dancing Thai girl who twists her way around the tables and gets all the men hot and bothered. I am just here for the food (sorry dancing girl), and I am always pleased with my dinner, but I reserve coming here for really special occasions — there is no way that I could make this my Friday night take way.
If you like fish, I would recommend the tilapea fish, which comes with a lovely fragrant sauce. Or try the soft shell crab salad with lemongrass, mint, green mango, apple and chili’s. A lot of the dishes look theatrical in their presentation — they come in dishes shaped like swans, and dressed with storks of fruit.
If you have a bit of money left over, order a couple of cocktails. They are equally as extravagant here.
