My wife, son and I recently had the pleasure of staying at the Riverside Lodge in Earles Colne near Colchester. We found it to be absolutely first class and prices were very competitive. The rooms are a good size, very clean and they all have an ensuite with wi-​fi and Freeview TV — and they have their own front doors too. This is a pretty village with a few shops and pubs and the accomodation is right next to a winding river — with ducks and fish — our 2-​year old loved it. The village centre is a five minute walk and there is an excellent Indian restaurant on the doorstep. Breakfast was spot-​on and plentful. The place is owned and run by the most charming couple you could wish to meet. All in all way better than a Travelodge — we much look forward to coming this way again!
