Fantastic pub! Food is amazing, atmosphere is lovely and relaxed. The staff are friendly and always smiling. Its a little pricey, but well worth it. definitely more of an adult atmosphere, i wouldn’t bring children here. 5 stars :)

One perennial favourite pubs. Beer and food always excellent. Not much room for ‘drinkers’ but lovely nonetheless.

O.K., if you see a name of a place with an apparent lack of vowels you might just be in Whales. The Pen Y Bryn Free House sits on the side of a hill with a gorgeous view of Colwyn Bay. A free House is a pub that offers a variety of beers unlike some pubs which are under contract by some brewers to serve only a specific brand. Food is good and the beer selection is great. Grab a menu and choose a seat, order your food and drinks at the bar and the wait staff will bring your food to your table. Friendly staff and terrific views make this a must see.

Found this place on the Mitchelin Guide while visiting Colwyn Bay, we were looking for a place to eat, 7 adults and 3 children. What a find ! the weather was good so we sat in the beer garden at the rear which was beautiful. The service was good and very friendly and the food was really excelent. i would give the food ten out of ten. We had 3 children with us age range from 4 to 6 years, what i found good was there was NO childrens menu(i.e the normal chicken nuggets etc) they could have smaller portion of what was on the menu, a much healtier option i thought. The place its-self was first class very nice indeed.

A great pub. Reminds you why it is worth going out still. Good food and a relaxed feel to the place. I don’t like the word, but the best I can come up with is — classy.

The Pen Y Bryn is very cosy, homely and welcoming. It’s full of old furniture and bookcases, along with lovely oak floors and open fires. In the summer, it’s nice to go and sit out in the garden to eat where there are fabulous views over the bay and towards the Great Orme. The menu has an excellent selection of meals as well as snacks and sandwiches and the food is always well cooked and delicious. They can also cater for large parties, and have plenty of space for this. The staff have always been very friendly and welcoming and the service is always excellent. I wouldn’t say they were child friendly, although they have always welcomed my little boy everytime I have taken him with me for lunch, there is no child options on the menu or highchairs available, and they prefer you not to take in prams or pushchairs. They have exellent provisions for disabled customers.
