Open Arms

This is one of the locals to where I grew up and it is a nice place to enjoy a drink! An Ember Inns pub so it is pretty standard fayre but the interior is very pleasant as it was refurbished not too long ago.
The food is always great for the price and you can’t fault the service. It has a garden outback which isn’t gorgeous but it is spacious with lots of tables and makes a great spot to drink in the summer. It is located right next to the War Memorial Park and very close to the train station and city centre so it is situated ideally! Normally I would give a pub like this 3 stars because it is standard, but it gains points for the great location, good atmosphere, friendly vibes and value for money!

The Open Arms in Cheylesmore is part the Ember Inn chain of pubs. They serve a great selection of food (presumably standard across the chain). Food service can sometimes be a little slow, probably because the pub is always so busy. The beer garden is very pleasant with plenty of seating, and there’s cover and patio heaters for the smokers. The beer garden is not enclosed though (leading onto car park at the rear) so not an ideal place to bring children. The quiz on a Thursday night is very popular, so you have to get there early if you want a table!
