This is the 4th/5th time I have visited the Sovrano Restaurant and this time I was quite disappointed. The only reason that I am not rating lower is that my visits here beforehand have not been so bad. Customer service is non existent. When you walk in, all the staff have a direct view of you but nobody greets you or directs you, so, especially first timers, are stood there twiddling their thumbs for a while not quite knowing what the deal is and then kinda saunter sheepishly around looking for a table, not quite being sure of what to do. We waited 20 minutes at our table before someone approached us for our drinks order. We were literally about to put our coats on and leave. Saw two other customers that had a similar waiting time before even initially being approached. Two things I do love about this place is the authentic décor and the hot chocolate /mocha. They put a glob of Nutella in it. Winner. I had a meatball Panini. Was just okay but quite dry. And the side salad was actually a side leaf. I will only be returning for the hot drinks with Nutella in, and when I’ve got a good amount of time to spare.

This business seemed quite newly opened when I visited several times in January 2013. I was staying the month in Coventry and missing my coffee and trying to find a low carb breakfast. I fell in love with their lattes and their omelets. The latte was perfectly executed and came with a decoration of dark chocolate on the top. Hot, strong, and hit the spot. The omelets were freshly made, fluffy and filled with freshly cut fillings. Generous amounts. The staff was attentive without hovering. I noticed a family with an infant and a toddler one Sunday. The staff helped with heating baby bottles and making sure the toddler got a cup that wouldn’t spill. I had breakfast here each Sunday and looked forward each week to my Sunday visit.
