We used to visit a lot in recent years, the fillet steak being my personal choice. I feel the level of service has gone down considerably whilst the prices have remained relatively high. I don’t mind paying for good food and service. The décor inside is very good and always clean. Ales are well looked after and the steaks are excellent. They also do their own pizzas in a special oven. They have a special back room which you can book for functions which we have done before. A few years back this would have been a five star pub for me.

Made a pit stop here for lunch, whilst on a 4 mile walk. The exterior of the pub is tastefully decorated with a delightful patio area with fairy lights and comfy patio furniture. The staff are very welcoming and we were seated at a table by the window. The menu is varied with a pizza menu whereby pizzas are cooked in the wood fire oven which is a nice feature of the restaurant area. After plumping for a couple of pizzas and a side order of sweet potato fries our order was taken on a tablet — not something I had seen before. The pizzas soon arrived and we demolished them with each bite being delicious. The service was great, with our waitress was attentive and friendly. I would most definitely recommend this place for drinks and food and you can hold a party here whereby an area by the bar is sectioned off for your personal use — a nice touch.

The Saracen’s Head has been through a number of owners over the past ten years, with varying degrees of success. It is now much more of a restaurant than a pub. The building itself is lovely, with some very old features, and allegedly a resident ghost in the front parlour. Surprisingly for such an old building, the various rooms are bright and airy, and there has been some resistance to packing the tables in, meaning that you can dine in a degree of privacy. There are also a number of tables outside, with comfortable furniture. The menu is fairly lengthy, with all that implies, but the restaurant is kept full by some significant 2for1 deals. We have been here a couple of times recently, and it has been busy on both occasions. The service is pleasant and friendly. It was a little slow on one of our visits, but it was peak time and the place was packed. This is a great option for a reasonably priced meal in nice surroundings. I would suggest you go early if you are short on time.

It used to be better when you could order at the bar… then you didnt have to wait for the waiter to come around. Great location and friendly staff but havnt been back being that its going down hill a little. I will go back at some point but there are other great places to eat
