Visited this wine bar/bistro for a Sunday lunch recently. The quality of the food was really excellent and surprisingly quite reasonably priced! My mum had the Welsh lamb, which she said was superb, whilst I had the vegi option which was very nice, and the portion sizes are very generous(great for my mum, bad for me). The staff were very friendly without being overbearing. It’s quite a small restaurant so it’s best to book ahead. A good choice if wanting to drive a short way out of Cardiff for a meal.

Rating des Ortes: 4 Cardiff, United Kingdom
Farthings is owned by the same folk who have Woods Brassiere down in Cardiff bay and the influence is clear. Like its big brother Farthings uses, wherever possible, fresh local produce and cooks everything to order. The quality is exceptional which means that the place is usually full to bursting point. I would have rated this a five but I’ve had to be turned away on more than one occasion because of its popularity. It’s so disappointing because the Fish laksa that comes with crusty bread is a hearty winter warmer that induces a near perfect blissful food coma. If you’re going on the weekend, ring first and avoid that disappointment.
