Cowes is a place inundated with sailors(like myself) and as such a highly nourishing drunk-food is required to fuel the beer gauntlets. Be it man or woman, young or old, it is safe to say that Corries Cabin has seemed to earn the best fish and chips title of high street. I say that with total unbiasedness too, simply being an American who happened to live in Cowes for a while. I may not have tasted a ‘true’ fish an chips before but Corries is definitely better than Chips Ahoy, Fountain Inn, or any other place to name. Being in Cowes for business i had a ton of time on my hands so i made a game of trying to find the best in town. Corries came up the clear winner because of the fish quality, batter taste, less grease but good amount of oil on the chips, turn around time, and cleanliness.

We arrived 2 mintes after closing time and they served us no problem. Probably best written menu in town, good selection of different fishes as well. The review below mentions bad cooking but we had no complaints. Pretty reasonable prices(4 people + wine at ~£40), friendly staff made for a pleasant dinner.

The friendly welcome here was the winner as we’d spent an evening walking the streets of what is a very toddler-unfriendly town, so somewhere that welcomed us so well was lovely. The fish, chips and mushy peas that I had were easily up to standard.

used to be good, now terrible. It used to be the best chippy in the area but has gone right down hill in the last few years. The chips are invariably under cooked and never have any ‘crisp’ to them. The fish batter is greasy and unpleasant. I would avoid this chippy untill they learn how to cook chips.
