I love this shop because you can pick up so many premium products at stupidly low prices. I’d even go as far as to say that it improves my quality of life because I’d never justify buying some of the things that I get from there at full retail price. Most of it is end of line or discontinued or close to use by date though so you have to get it when you see it or never see it again. I buy a few items here once a week. It is quite sad how much of a habit going there is. The staff are pretty horrible though. Mostly ‘I want to be invisible’ moody cow bags. The queues also get terrible despite the sign saying ‘never more than 3 to a queue’. I don’t think they care about that. They’ve recently limited free bags to one per transaction. I come on foot and I bring my own anyway but I’d hate to not be prepared to carry away all the stuff I’ve bought. I’m almost been tempted to say ok, fine. I’LLPAYFOREVERYTHINGASSEPARATETRANSACTIONSWITHCHEQUESSOGIVEMEMULTIPLEBAGS. I don’t want to ruin everyone’s morning though! I don’t agree with the minimum wage thing because that shouldn’t be an automatic indication of institutionalised poor customer relations. Plenty of people earn minimum wage from clerks to waiters to administrators to secretaries to drivers and it doesn’t make it a given.

Home Bargains has to be one of the best discount stores in the UK. I have bought so many things from there! Unlike most discount stores, most of the products are ‘well known’ brands. The only downside I can think of the place is that when you go back for more of the same thing, they are usually gone as product cycles are very fast. I’ve even bought 2 sets of leather chairs from the shop which have been just as good quality as ones people have bought for a much higher price. Thoroughly worth a look when you are near the area. Get your wallet ready and a trolley because you are going to need them!

Really like home bargains — product range is great, prices are affordable but let down by surly staff. Stocks wide range of toiletries, baby products, cleaning products, stationary, toys, soft furnishings and food/drinks. Also have end of line products that you have to buy there and then or they will be gone the next time you visit. Don’t expect any kind of customer service though — staff on the whole are rude and seem offended that you want to interrupt them to pay for your goods — always a massive queue for the till — they do need to get more staff — and someone to train them in customer service. Free parking outside, but can get really busy.

An awesome place to go to pick up bargains at any time of year. Home Bargains have all categories of stock from Toiletries to Gardening items and toys to clothes. They always have a huge selection of foods, snacks, drinks and sweets. The housewares section is particularly good with things like lamps, Cushions, curtains and bed sets at ridiculous prices. Home bargains isn’t the kind of place that has a lasting array of stock. Their inventary is ever changing so if you see something you want but don’t have the money, don’t expect to go next week and they will still have it. You have to grab it while it is there. They do a lot of end of line stuff from other stores and I would guess at the moment probably have a lot of ex-Woolworths stock. I would suggest that if you have a Home bargains in your area go stock up now for birthdays and Christmas gifts or cards. Sometimes the staff can be a bit ignorant. I think they probably employ youngsters for the cheap wages but sometimes a smile would be nice. They also have a sign saying that never more than 3 to a queue but that should read never more than 3 staff on at a time
