Set overlooking the Mercia Marina, with its vast array of moored narrowboats is the Willow Tree Tea Room. It has a beautiful outlook and would be stunning on a hot summer’s day, unfortunately on our day of visit, it was 8 degrees and raining permanently, in June! Inside is a spacious coffee shop with a modern interior, large wooden tables, high backed leather chairs and comfortable sofa chairs at the rear of the tearooms. As you enter you pass a glass display cabinet, with a massive variety of what looked like homemade cakes, very tempting and generously portioned. The rest of the menu consists of sandwiches, jacket potatoes, teacakes, cream teas and the ‘Boaters Breakfast’, to name but a few. A good selection of drinks too, cappuccino, espresso, iced teas etc. Although we only had a hot drink, the place had a great atmosphere, and the veranda seating would be perfect on a hot summer’s day.
