The New Picture House cinema is exactly what Dewsbury needs. The cinema is organised by volunteers as part of a community project and has injected some much needed culture and fun into the town. The venue is opposite the bus station, an old office building. The venue works really well with a grungy run down feel, it feels as though you are going to some secret place. Upstairs the bar is small but well equipped with beers/wine, pop corn, buns and a tasty dal that I tried. The prices are cheap and affordable. The cinema is smaller than your average but has a friendly feel with blankets, really good sound and visibility. Movie choice is good with new films on Fridays and more arty choices on Sunday’s. At the end of the showing the old office has a great atmosphere with drinks, candles and a view over the town. Overall I love this place and concept!
