I feel sorry for the previous people who reviewed this restaurant. Its like eating in a barn with little or no ambience. Its over priced, poor quality food and poor service. When you have eaten in China Town, London or China Town in Sydney or Melbourne then tell the readers of this website ‘objectively’ how good this restaurant really is. I do not think you will. Its got a name and people eat blindly without really analysing what it is they are receiving as customers

I love this place, I’ve been going to China Rose for the past 20 years when it was orginally across the road! And the thing that has remained is the high standard. I go with friends and family at least 2 or 3 times a year and love the food everytime. In fact I think I can honestly say tht it all that time I have never had a bad meal. The service is friendly and good and nothing seems to be a problem, if you want to change a couple of dishes from a set menu, its no problem. The atmosphere is always good. It can on really busy nights get a little slow on the service side, waiting for food but nothing that would make you want to complain. Superb food, superb place to eat, can’t give it high enough priase.

Food is very good, however the portions are small and it is overpriced.

I’m afraid that this place doesn’t really do it for me. It’s beautifully decorated — one of the best I’ve visited in terms of appearance, and they certainly try to create the impression of a very up-market sort of restaurant with well-dressed waiters and spacious seating. But when the food arrives, I find it rather disappointing. I’ve been a couple of times, and both times have found it very average. Not bad, just not particularly good. It reminds me a bit of the stuff that you get in ready-meals: chicken cut up into small cubes which have a rather plasticky texture, rather bland sauces, and smaller-than-average sized portions. I have also been slightly disappointed with the service. It was all very efficient, but there was none of the friendly chat that you usually get in Chinese restaurants. I suppose they’re just trying to be different and cater for the toffs rather than us normal folks. They do have the advantage of having their own car park, but you may struggle to find a space among the Mercs, BMWs and 44s that cover the forecourt. But on the whole, it’s a little disappointing and overpriced — you’re paying for the décor really in my opinion.

This is one of doncasters best chinise resturants by far, this is the opinion of all my friends and family They have an excellent menu, the prices are quite high, but for the quality of the food and service its definetely worth it, The whole place has a great atmosphere and is very clean and welcoming, the staff are really helpfull and polite, and are happy to recommend dishes and explain exactely what each dish consists of, they have a decent wine list aswell. This place is perfect for all occasions such as dates, work nights out and family meals

Of all the places I’ve reviewed thus far, and probably all the places I’ll review in the future, this is far and away my fovourite place. My first visit was way back in 1996. I moved away from the area a couple of years later, but stil try to make an effort to travel back twice a year. Its worth the travel. In all that time, I’ve never had a bad meal or cause to complain about anything. The food — the main selling point, of course, is splendid, and theres a huge range of choices to select from. Service is attentive without being intrusive and always professional. The décor is modern, yet distinctly oriental. The wine list and choice of drinks is very good, too. The only thing I;d ever moan about, and its a tiny one — is that the car park is only big enough for about 10 cars, and street parking is at a premium. Its a little more expensive that a trip to your average restaurant — a three course meal for two with drinks will cost somewhere in the region of £50-£60, but its worth that and more.
