Cafe Rialto

Our pre-​salsa good hunt took me and my salsa friend, Hilary down South Street in Dorking last Wednesday. We spied the big friendly ice cream sign outside Café Rialto first and upon closer inspection of the menu, found that they also served a full a la carte dinner menu
We were the first customers in for dinner and were greeted warmly. The only slightly odd thing about the evening was the fact that we were given different menus with slightly different dishes in each menu but our waitress soon sorted that out
As we had to dance shortly, we used our willpower to resist having a starter and went straight to mains. I had duck breast in honey and black peppercorn sauce and Hilary opted for the lamb shank. In both cases, the meat was well cooked and my duck in particular had a lovely sauce which complemented the rich meat well. Both dishes came with a selection of vegatables and made for a filling meal.
We walked up to inspect the yummy looking dessert selection, which was available for inspection in what is probably the café section. Michael, our waiter was very patient in explaining every dessert to us only for us to opt for their gelato. We really enjoyed the mango and cherry flavours, which were both packed with fruit flavour. Michael told us that Café Rialto now supply ice cream to about 30 other establishments. I can see why
A good start to our evening of dancing

Café Rialto is a small Italian café/​restaurant in Dorking. I have visited many times in the past. The staff are friendly, the prices are reasonable and the food is amazing! I would especially recommend the bread-​crumbed chicken with tomato spaghetti (though it’s got a fancier name than that on the menu!)
I can’t wait to visit again!

Service very good, they employ local students-​I like this idea, very important to give job to locals in credit crunch times.
Comment Spiddy Go is just funny, I go to this place from 5 years and know they cook to order (that’s why you wait for your food Stephanie, yes some places still cooking food not just reheating), food is always good and fresh, they making pizza base, all sauces, cakes and everythig else by them self, I know it cos they let regular customers look how they do it. So your comment Speedy is not fair for people who work very hard in Rialto’s kitchen-​you simply do not know what you are talking about. No offence,

Originally gave this place a poor review but have since changed my opinion. Think either I or they were having an off day. Happy to tell you that this is a great place to eat and drink. Great value, fresh food. What more do you want!

This place was good when it opened, and i enjoyed the food, plus i was served by an italian waitress which added to the experience. Since then i have been a couple of times and neither time i have enjoyed my meal and have had uninterested teenage waiting staff serving.
