This is a breathtaking hike to do if you are ever in Brighton/Eastbourne area. I went to this hike with my friends from University of Sussex and it was so much fun! I don’t know how far we hiked but it was a really long time. It is not difficult but there was a good amount of incline but nothing that would give you trouble. The landscape is all green grass and blue ocean. There is a pretty lighthouse below the cliffs but be careful since there aren’t any railings to prevent you from falling over. There is a yummy spot to grab food before/after you hike at The Beachy Head. Bring your camera because there is a lot of photo ops to do around here!

Great place to hike! University of Sussex people arranged a daytrip 10 mile hike starting from Beachy Head all the way to the Seven Sisters. Ascending the cliffs was amazing, since you’re standing on the edge of chalk cliffs and looking out to the blue ocean. There are no trees on the cliffs, mainly chalk grassland plants and grasses on the floor. You have to be careful though, since Beachy Head is the #1 suicide spot in England. At least, that’s what our hike guide said. There are little to no fences that mark the edge of the cliffs, so you must be careful! We saw some crosses planted in the grass to mark those whose lives were lost here. Despite the depressing suicides, I would love to come back and hike here on a sunny day.

On dry sunny afternoons, there’s nothing better than taking a bus or drive to Beachy Head and walking along the cliff tops. At weekends, it can be gently bustling with fellow walkers but in the week you can sometimes roam for miles without seeing another soul. My favourite walk is the one from the café and cottages at the beginning of Beachy Head past the light-house and finishing at the Beachy Head pub. It usually takes about forty-five minutes to an hour and takes a fair bit of stamina to navigate the dramatic and steep hills along the way. The fact the jagged cliffs extend over five hundred feet above sea level offers beautiful views of the sea and the South East coast. Sadly, like the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco, it also makes it a popular suicide spot.
