As part of the Time Out Country Walk #19, from Hever to Leigh, we stopped at this great(gastro) pub for a delicious lunch. We sat in the garden and really enjoyed the buzzing atmosphere… listening to other ramblers talking about their walks through the«Garden of England» or visitors to the nearby castle. The food at the Castle Inn is really good: I had the ham hock stew with root vegetables and my walking companion enjoyed a paté made from duck confit and peppers… served with home-made chutney and granary bread. Apparently, and this is what the owner of the next door antique store told us, the owner at this place used to be the chef in some of London’s really happening kitchens… well, he must’ve had a good education, because the quality of both food and service was really good.
