Booked 2 months in advance. Called twice. Was told to use an online form. Filled it out. Arrived on the morning of a wedding(flew in), got told they did not have my length kilt and actually not really the time to help me either(I’m 6.4 /1.94) the guy didn’t even want to apologize initially. In addition, my friend who was with me had come by the store the day before indicating that he would be renting a kilt the next day and was told that was okay only to also hear it was no longer possible.) Never have I experienced something so jokingly bad. Their online order system is a joke, typically only respond to emails after a week or two and clearly do not have their stuff in order. A true shame!

Menswear was excellent range and choice, however knowledge of Highland Dress was very poor, know! they should have stuck to what they know!

The only reason I have ever heard of Bowden’s is because my Uncle asked me to pick up a suit for him from here that he had ordered for a wedding. Situated on Easter Road in Edinburgh, Bowdens specialises in formalwear and kilts, the sort of stuff guys wear to weddings or Graduations. My uncle had bought a grey pinstripe number from here a week before and had left it to be altered. I picked it up and the assistant couldn’t have been any nicer, although I wasn’t much help when it came to answering questions about Uncle Bill’s inside leg measurements. I left with the suit beautifully wrapped in a black formal carrier, and my Uncle was thrilled with his purchase. Somewhere a bit different than Slater’s or Harvey Nichols, and dare I say, cheaper, but still fabulous quality.
