This place has changed ownership recently. It has been refurbished, nice pictures on the wall, different menu style: now you have a big selection of ingredients to make a sandwich to your taste! A good variety of fresh rolls was in display. The menu had a few Thai-origin dishes(chicken soup of the day, for example), and the new owner seems to be from that area, so that means that the Thai dishes should be close to the authentic style! Based on this assumption of mine, I decided to try their chicken soup, and I found it brilliant! Spicy hot but not as hot as some Thai dishes in a restaurant, ideal for the cold winter days that have come upon us in Auld Reekie! Three thin slices of bread were provided, which were ok(butter was not offered, but I can live without it). The coffee’s provider is Segafredo, and I ordered a Cappuccino, which was good. I noticed muffins and some pastries available for purchase in a small display. There is a 50p charge if you eat in, compared to take away. The owner was very polite, smiley and chatty, he even came to the entrance to help me out as I was trying to carry the soup, cutlery, bread and my coffee without a carrier bag(trying to be nice to our planet, and not spending 5p per bag too)! Just the soup and this amount of bread felt little for an adult’s lunch, so keep that in mind if you go for lunch there. I didn’t see any fruits, so I think it would be a nice healthy addition, solo or as a meal deal, as most of the other take-away lunch places in the area offer them. Providing a meal deal with a hot drink as well would take me back sooner to try more of their lunch options. No loyalty card in display, not sure if that will change. There was a Free WiFi note, but I didn’t try it in my short stay in the café. I need to try their sandwiches next time!
